NEWS FROM THE GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
PSAT Scores:
Scores from the October PSAT exam will be released online to students between December 9th and December 11th. A reminder email explaining where and how to review scores will be sent to students who provided an email address on the answer sheet during the PSAT exam administration. If students have not yet created a CollegeBoard account, they will need to do so in order to access scores. Be sure to write down usernames/passwords, as no one at West will have access to CollegeBoard account information. Paper score reports will be distributed to students through advisory when they arrive in mid-December, but students are recommended to check scores online to access personalized resources about their scores.
Attention Seniors:
- Any Seniors who have regular admission college application deadlines in January need to request transcripts as soon as possible.
- Students with January 1 college deadlines should have already requested their transcripts in Naviance. If they have not, they should see their counselor immediately.
- Students with January 15th college deadlines must request transcripts and/or recommendations no later than December 16th.
- Please refer to the College Application Process Page for deadlines, and step-by-step guides for requesting transcripts and letters of recommendation.
- Watch your Financial Aid deadlines! Check each college’s Financial Aid page for specific requirements and deadlines for that school. See our Financial Aid page for a link to the FAFSA application and more info.
- Students who plan to apply to Bucks County Community College may wait until spring to apply. Please visit BCCC’s application page to learn about the process, which may include placement tests for some students.
- Any Senior who has questions about the application process, or who plans to apply but has not yet started the process, should schedule an appointment with their counselor as soon as possible. It is not advised to wait until the last minute to seek help, or to submit requests for materials, especially with the holiday breaks coming up.
Peer Tutoring – The Peer Tutoring Academy for the 2019-20 school year is now underway. Tutoring takes place Tuesdays after school for one hour. Students who are requesting tutoring must sign up in Guidance (on the bulletin board) by the preceding Monday. If students do not sign up beforehand, there may not be a tutor available to help. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Lori Bagnick at lbagnick@cbsd.org.
Please bookmark our Guidance Webpage for current updates on Guidance events, college application procedures, PSAT/SAT/AP news, and more!

GOOD NEWS ABOUT CB WEST STUDENTS

The cheer team donated $1,000 worth of gifts to Christ’s Home for Children. The gifts will go to children ages newborn-18 years old. The girls did an awesome job representing not only the cheer program but the school!
Mock Trial
The CB West Mock Trial team meets twice a week after school and on Saturdays to prepare to argue their case in court this competition season. This year’s case “Addison Babbage v. Ruffed Grouse High School, LLC” is about cyberbullying, and the defendant must demonstrate that they did all that they were able in order to protect the plaintiff. The first round of trials begin in January at the Bucks County Courthouse.
Bucks County Symphony Orchestra
The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra performed its Family Concert—Pirates, Ahoy! over the weekend. They were joined by the CB West Orchestra and Lenape String Ensemble and flute players from the West Cluster elementary schools on the final two numbers.
