Current Enrollment: 1,003!
School-Wide Incentives: We are so proud of all of our wonderful students who are earning lots of SOAR bucks. It shows that you are working hard to look for the positive and reward those students that are meeting expectations. The A-team is running out of space on our calendars to fulfill all of our student requests!!! We need to put a deadline on school store orders so that we can schedule them all. We will not accept any more school store order after April 30. All student orders need to be submitted prior to May so that we can schedule them.
DO NOT FEAR! The PBIS team has come up with some very exciting ways that students will be able to spend all those SOAR bucks and *hopefully* changing things up will motivate some of our students to earn newly offered prizes.
Starting next week, students will be able to purchase a spin on the HERO WHEEL. The HERO WHEEL will cost 150 SOAR bucks and will be offered in the Cafeteria every Friday in May. If a student purchases a HERO WHEEL spin, they get to come up on the stage - in front of everyone - and get cheered on as they spin the wheel to earn a reward for their WHOLE CLASS (thus, the HERO in the name).
The WHEEL will be placed in the cafeteria on Fridays by the PBIS team and if your class earns a prize that requires supplies (such as a glow party with glow necklaces), they will be provided to you by your PBIS grade level rep!
Excited to get this end of year incentive in place to boost motivation! :)

#CFISDBond Vote - Race to 100!
Just like you are reflective after a lesson doesn't go as planned... I, too, have already reflected on how I could have adjusted this game for a "sweeter" outcome.
Between some of us getting a little extra competitive (no names... wink) and some people truly just spotting one and picking it up on their way in the building not realizing the competition didn't start until 8:00... there was, unfortunately, a lot of hurt feelings, negative talk, and a lot of upset.
THAT was not my intent! I was hoping for a little fun morale booster to get us laughing and having fun together.
My mother always taught me that there is always something you can gain from every situation. So what can we learn? The principal can learn to set guidelines that are easier to follow - like starting the hunt after announcements instead of a specified time. We can learn to model the behaviors we want to see in our students, and we can learn to give grace if others make a mistake.
I thought about what I might teach my class if this happened when I was teaching. I would use this event to teach my students:
- Don't give up on the game if you see others not playing well
- You can always choose to have as much fun as you want to
- Give others grace if they make a mistake.
Also... forgive the principal who makes you hunt for peeps :)
I still hope to see who found the most peeps on twitter at #RennellPeepWars and I want to see which team hid theirs so well that no one found them... even though they were in plain sight!!!
I hope you all have a wonderful and restful break and come back feeling like Rennell is such a sweet place to work.
You are some of my favorite PEEPS! :)
