The Third Grade Team
Learning Targets
Writers Workshop:
We will learn how to give our beginning of year pieces a “makeover” so that we can learn how to improve our personal stories. I’ll know I have it when I can revise my lead, details, and closing based on my writing goals.
Readers Workshop:
We will learn close reading skills so that we can deeply understand the text. I’ll know I have it when I can use reading strategies to help me fully understand the big ideas in a non-fiction text.
Social Studies:
We will learn how communities in the past met their needs so that we will understand how communities have changed over time. I’ll know I have it when I can explain information about Ancient Egyptian communities and compare their culture and community’s characteristics to my own community.
Math Workshop:
We will read analog and digital clocks so that we can determine the time. I know I have it when I can tell time in a variety of ways and solve word problems involving elapsed time.
Science:
We will investigate the differences between a push and a pull so that I can understand how a push and pull are a force. I know I have it when I can describe what a force is.
