What is Kurzweil?
Kurzweil is a tool that is available to ALL students enrolled in Humble ISD. It helps students with reading difficulties to better comprehend text. It helps students with difficulty writing to better produce written work.
What tools for Reading are Available?
Kurzweil offers many different supports for readers not limited to:
- text-to-speech
- dual highlighting as text is read
- dictionary features
- picture supports
- translation tools
Where do I start?
First, you will need to log-in to the website. You can access the Kurzweil website through the My Humble Portal.After you have logged in, you can upload a document from the Universal Library.

You can use Kurzweil to Read a document. Within Kurzweil you have options to change the rate, voice, and how much is read at a time.

Translation Tools
Kurzweil can also be a beneficial tool for ELL students. With Kurzweil you can translate text to a different language and for some languages it can then read the text to the student!
