Students created their own camera obscuras!

The students in Mr. Gurany's Engineering and Design class created a camera obscura out of common household items. Students used different materials to seal their containers so that no light leaked into their container. They made a pin hole in a piece of aluminum that acted as an aperture. Students took pictures of different locations around the school by opening their aperture for a brief amount of time and then developed their film paper in a dark room. They turned out amazing!

Theatre Success

The weekend before Thanksgiving Break, 27 theatre Students travelled to Dallas to compete in the Texas State Thespian Competition. 8000+ students from all over Texas compete in various acting, film and design events to qualify for Nationals and only a handful make it every year. I am so very happy with all of our students who achieved fantastic scores this year, but even more proud of our two Nationals Qualifiers; Josh Sendgikoski for his lighting design for "The Outsiders" and Jaylena Strickland for her scenic design "Sweeney Todd". Be sure to wish them congratulations!!

Crockett Choir student advancing to final round of All-State auditions

Denham was selected via audition to this year's Region Choir and participated in the Clinic & Concert at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center at the beginning of November.

On Tuesday (Nov. 16) evening, he participated in the Pre-Area round of auditions and placed in the top 5 of his voice part, which is the threshold to advance to Area.

Denham is the first Crockett student in at least 3 years (or perhaps more) to make the Region Choir or advance to the final round. Beyond the competitive success, I am proud of how he has represented our school and choir community with Integrity throughout these events.

In addition to Choir, Denham is also an ECHS student and on our Tennis team.
