Who: Elementary teachers
Would you like to teach coding? This session is for elementary teachers that would like to learn how to teach coding to their students. No experience required. All participants will leave the session with a curriculum that is ready to implement in the fall.
Attendees will learn how to use Code.org's courses to introduce computer science basics in a format that's fun and accessible to the youngest learners (grades K-5). Attendees also receive all the supplies they need to teach—at no cost.

Sumner County Google Summit
Date: June 22, 2017
Location: Station Camp Elementary
Who: All Sumner County teachers
What's all the hype about Google Classroom? Come and find out! Join us for a full day of Google learning. This day will include beginner and advanced sessions as well as teacher collaboration.
Participants are able to choose multiple sessions and will participate in hands-on exploration, creation using Google Tools, Google Classroom and Google Chrome. Other topics of discussion will include set-up of teacher and student accounts, Add-Ons, extensions, assignments, announcements, storage of resources, assessment, and feedback.

PBL Academy
Date: July 19 and 20 (follow up day fall semester)
Location: Riggsbee Support Services Building
Who: School teams by invitation
Is your school ready to utilize PBL school wide? If so, this training will assist school staff in collaborating to develop systems to scale up and support the use of PBL. This academy is designed to train educators in the basic elements and best practices for designing and implementing Project Based Learning (PBL) in the classroom. Participants will be launched into a challenge to create a classroom PBL project for their students that fosters inquiry, research, collaboration and presentation of learning based on state standards and objectives.
As you will remember, the January Technology newsletter was focusing on Digital Tools for PBL. Please refer to this newsletter if you would like more information.
In order to attend the academy, your principal must submit an application (will be sent via email) for one team per school to attend this academy. The team must commit to two days of training during the summer and one day in the fall semester. (subs to be provided).

The above professional learning sessions will ONLY substitute for Day 4 or Day 5 Required PL and only with your principal's approval. Otherwise, it will be credited as Other PL."
