Pleasant Valley Post
October, 2017
It's hard to believe a month has past since our last newsletter and that October is here already! I want to thank all our students and families who supported our PTO Fun Run! We had a wonderful time as a school community and raised over $4000.00! We so appreciate all the parents, family members and other volunteers that joined us for the event. Our students especially enjoyed having the Bridgewater College Men's Basketball Team here leading warm-ups and cheering them on!
Thanks as well to all those parents and family members who joined us for breakfast on Friday the 29th! Our students loved having you here and that event was successful as well!
We are ever thankful for your support and partnership!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hammill
Principal

Mexico’s Independence Day Celebration
On Friday, September 15th, the Mexican students at PVES in grades K-5 were invited to a special program coordinated by Ms. Long. Roughly 35 students attended. Jacinto and Sandy Hernández spoke about the importance of Mexico’s Independence Day and how in 1821 Mexico became free from Spain after 11 years. Jacinto and Sandy played their guitars and sang a famous Spanish song with the children, called “Cielito Lindo”. Students also saw a movie about the Battle of 1810 when Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla began the fight for independence from the Spanish. All the students enjoyed delicious corn on the cob served with mayonnaise, cheese and chili powder made by Sandy Hernández. Students waved Mexican flags and shouted, “Viva Mexico!” A good time was had by all who attended.
