BLOOMINGDALE NEWS

Greetings Bloomingdale Families!
Time certainly goes by quickly at Bloomingdale Elementary School! It is hard to believe that we are nearly done with 2 months of school already, and we continue to meet together in person. We are proud to report that on October 26th, we even had 100% student and staff attendance! That is truly remarkable in any year, let alone a year that has been rife with interruptions for families and schools due to the COVID-19 epidemic. As summer quickly gave way to fall, it seems as though fall is already passing into winter… I notice our days getting shorter and our temperatures getting colder. We had our first true snowfall this week and the students were excited to watch it come down. With that in mind, I ask that you remember to dress your children appropriately for the weather. We go outside almost every day for recess, as long as weather permits.
As I write this letter, we are celebrating “Red Ribbon Week” from October 26th-October 30th to help foster a healthy lifestyle, promote healthy decision making, and encourage our students to remain Drug Free. We are also preparing for our Halloween Celebration that will take place on Friday, October 30th, complete with costumes and a parade at the end of the day. We continue to highlight various character attributes for student success. Next week’s character trait is “Bravery”. Picture day will take place on Friday, November 6th this year. Bloomingdale Elementary School will continue it’s tradition of honoring our military veterans in November. Students will place flags in the bus circle and we are conducting a letter writing campaign for those Veterans that were supposed to join North Country’s Honor Flight, but were unable to attend due to cancellations as a result of COVID-19. Finally, Parent/Teacher conferences are on the calendar for November 23rd, 4:00-7:00 p.m. and also on November 24th from 8:30-11:30 a.m. There will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 24th, and all conferences will be held virtually this year. You should expect to hear from your child’s teacher regarding the time and date of your Parent/Teacher conference. With expectations and regulations changing almost daily, I’m certain I might have missed something or there will be additional news to share after this newsletter goes out. We will do our very best to keep everyone up to date with important, relevant information. Please use the Bloomingdale Calendar on the district webpage (www.slcs.org) to stay up to date with all that is happening in Bloomingdale Elementary, and be sure to check out the Bloomingdale Parents’ Club page on Facebook! Happy Fall Everyone!
