Elementary Art Opening was Wednesday night.
Secondary Art Opening TONIGHT - Thursday, May 19 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Parking Shuttle: A bus will run both evenings from the CHHS parking lot to the Silverwood Visitor Center.
Art exhibit on display in the visitor center gallery until May 31, 2022.

Spotlight Awards for Matilda
The cast of Matilda received 15 honors through the Hennepin Theater Trust Spotlight Education program.
Spotlight Education is a high school theater awards program that sends trained theater professionals and educators to watch and assess participating schools’ theater productions. Over 100 schools across the state of Minnesota participate in the Spotlight Education program. Shows are awarded both group and individual honors.
Some highlights of our individual honors include:
- Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role going to Sophie Kuether
- Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role to Yuli Cordova-Quizhpi
- Honorable Mention in a Supporting Role to Catherine Loper
- Outstanding in Technical Leadership to Renee DeMars Dehn
- Honorable Mention in Technical Leadership to James Vazquez Celis.
- The entire production of Matilda received an Outstanding in Overall Production, Honorable Mention in Overall Performance and an Honorable Mention in Achievement in Musical Theatre.
From these honors the cast of Matilda is one of 20 schools who will get the opportunity to perform at the Spotlight Showcase at the State Theatre in downtown Minneapolis this coming June.
Congratulations again to all involved and don’t forget you still have a chance to see this amazing show this upcoming weekend! Shows are Friday at 7:00pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm @ CHHS Performing Arts Center – Buy Tickets Here or purchase at the door (cash only)

CHPS Board of Education Filings
Filings for Columbia Heights Public Schools Board of Education seats will open on Tuesday, May 17 through Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Three seats will be up for election for terms starting Jan. 1, 2023 ending Dec. 31, 2026.
Individuals interested in running for office must file an Affidavit of Candidacy and pay a $2 filing fee at the District Center (1440 49th Avenue NE, Columbia Heights, MN 55421). Packets with filing forms and information are available in the District Center lobby.
Primary Election - Tuesday, August 9, 2022 (Polls open 7 am to 8 pm)
General Election - Tuesday, November 8, 2022 (Polls open 7 am to 8 pm)

Support Ukrainian Refugees
Columbia Heights’ Sister City is Łomianki, Poland.
Łomianki has received thousands of Ukrainian refugees. The organization Columbia Heights Sister Cities International Inc., which collects donations, will directly support hundreds of Ukrainian refugees in Poland. These funds will help provide food, clothing, supplies and other essentials. Scan the QR code to donate to the GoFundMe site and share the link with your friends.
YMCA Free Youth Memberships
Current 8th -11th graders!
YMCA is offering free memberships for youth this summer, those entering grades 9-12 for fall 2022 qualify.
Activities Update
Congrats to our CA Baseball and Softball Teams on the successful completion of their seasons! Thanks to all our players, coaches and families for all of their hard work and support.
Spring Sports Sections- Good luck to our Spring Sports teams as they transition from regular season to sections tournaments! Our Boys Tennis Team had their Team Section Competition on Tuesday and will start Individual Sections next Tuesday, the 24th. Other teams starting Sections play are Softball on the 19th and Synchronized Swim on the 21st.
Our CA Track Meet will compete in their Conference Meet this afternoon, starting at 4:15 pm at the CHHS Stadium. Go Heights!
CHHS Football Meeting- Any current high school students interested in playing football next year are invited to attend a meeting on Monday, the 23rd at 3:15 pm in the Cafeteria.
