Supply pickup this week!

We have more supplies for your children, including math workbook pages and individualized books for reading. Please come to the main entrance at Lakeview on either:

Thursday, September 17 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Friday, September 18 from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

We will need materials picked up for every student at one of those times - it will be much faster than last time because we just have one bag to hand out for each student. You can even have a friend or relative pick up for you.

Please note: We need students to bring all of these materials and papers back to school once we are in-person again. Please keep everything together and return it.

Launchpad Meeting Survey

Please click this link and give us feedback on our Launchpad Meetings during the first two weeks of school. They were new to us, and we don't know of any other school district that did something like it. We would love to know about your experience.

New schedules start Monday

Now that our Launchpad meetings are completed, we are ready to begin our full-day schedule for virtual learning, which is pictured below and linked here (to find the 4K schedule use the link). Your child's classroom teacher will provide more specific information about these schedule changes via email, teacher websites, and/or daily agendas. Here are a few things to know about the schedule:

• Students still start the day at 8:30 a.m. with morning meeting.

• Although the overall school day is lengthened to end at 3:30, there are actually more screen breaks built in throughout the day. The times indicated for 1:1 or Small Group Instruction are times when teachers will see students for approximately 15 minute lessons before switching to another small group. When a student is not scheduled to be part of a group, he/she should step away from the Chromebook, read, get some exercise, play a game, have a snack, etc. After a few days, your child(ren) will fall into this new schedule.

• You will notice that grade level schedules do not all stop and start at the same time anymore. That may take some adjustment in your home for a few days as well.

• In the middle of the day, there is time built in where all students are on break to be able to pick up lunch or transition between locations if needed.

• The same overall schedule is followed at all four elementary schools.

First PTO Meeting of the School Year

Here is the Zoom link for our virtual PTO meeting on Thursday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m.

This is a great chance to get involved in our Lakeview PTO from the comfort of your very own home! Our PTO supports all of the fun events you have experienced in the past (dances, color run, grandparent's day) and they also support our incredible teachers. But we need you to make all of that come to life. Please join the Zoom on Thursday to learn more.

New faces in Zoom

If you are peeking at your child's Zoom, you might be noticing that there are more adults than just your child's classroom teacher in most meetings. If we were in-person, you would see that a teacher is almost never the only adult in a classroom. We have Special Education teachers, paraprofessional aides, reading teachers, instructional coaches, Speech & Language therapists, an Occupational therapist, English as a Second Language teacher, School Social Worker, and even a Principal that all work in classrooms with our students. You may just have never seen them or interacted with them before. If you would like to know more about these people, check our website under the "More Staff" section.

School starts at 8:30

The first week of school, we were very understanding of students that did not arrive to school by 8:30 a.m. due to technology issues. But after two weeks of school, every student should arrive to his/her teacher's Morning Meeting by 8:30. Students that arrive late are now being marked tardy and in rare cases accidentally marked absent which causes our office to call home.

Conferences coming up

In next week's family newsletter, there will be a Sign-Up Genius for October conferences. All of our conferences will be virtual this year, so you will use your teacher's Zoom link to meet. Conferences are scheduled for the week of October 5th.

1st & 2nd grade families

All 1st and 2nd grade students will come to school for approximately 45 minutes on either October 1st or 2nd to complete reading and math testing. These are tests that must be completed in person (one of them is required by the state). Look for a Sign-Up Genius next week for this as well.

Meal Distribution

Did you know that all children can get free meals (breakfast & lunch) at Lakeview right now? Please click here for information. Meal service is on Monday and Wednesday from 11:00-12:30.
