JANUARY 2024 NEWSLETTER
PLEASANTDALE SCHOOL
From the Office
Happy New Year and welcome back to school! We hope you all had a wonderful break with your family and friends. We are ready to get back to the routine of learning and fun.
We always have so much to celebrate here at Pleasantdale. The hard work and continued teamwork of our students, staff, parents and the surrounding community is a big reason for celebration. We were so proud of our students at the band and Christmas concert and it was so nice to see you all there. Thank you so much for all the gifts and baking before the holidays and for the generous donations to the food bank. We were able to donate 807 items to the food bank, which was amazing! A huge thank you to our Leadership Team who were very busy in December keeping up with everything we had going on.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. You can call, email, Edsby message or drop by any time and we will be happy to help.
Happy January,
Mrs. Michelle Smart
Mr. Devin Aspinall
Mrs. Christine Massier
Kindergarten Registration-Regular and French Immersion Programming
We are taking registrations for kindergarten starting in the fall of 2024. We offer both regular and French immersion programming. We are looking forward to meeting all of our new Pleasantdale students and have a Welcome to Kindergarten package for all of new students we did not see at our Welcome to Kindergarten event.
If you want to register in either program or have any questions, please call Christine in the office at 306 634 4210 and we will be happy to help you.
Band Concert
The grades 6-8 students along with Mrs. Meek put on a fantastic band concert before Christmas. Thanks to all of them for the hard work that goes into the band program. We really appreciate when so many people come out to support the concert and can't wait to see what they will be able to play by the year end concert in June.
Christmas Concert
A wonderful fun afternoon and night spent at the Christmas concert as our grades K-4 students presented their version of "A Polar Express." There was a lot of hard work done to get us to that day but the concert was worth it. A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Aspinall and all of our kindergarten through grade 4 staff for the effort and time.
December Dog Pound Celebration
Even though December is a short month here at school, we continued to work on learning about the 7 Grandfather Teachings. In December we worked on the teaching of humility which is taught to us by the wolf.
The wolf is a pack animal and each wolf in the pack plays an important role. Each is important to the pack, but not more important than the next. When we show humility we understand that we are talented and wonderful just the way we are, but the things we are good at do not make us more important than anyone else.
In the month of January we will be working on the Grandfather teaching of Truth that is taught to us by the turtle. To learn more about the Teaching of Truth check out the video link below.
Our dog pound celebrations are always open for families to join us if you can.
