Week Three And Things Look bright!
Whew! We have successfully completed our first full week of school here at Ixonia Elementary. This week was a busy one, with our 1st-4th graders taking part in MAP testing. Thank you to all parents who helped our students be their best with healthy breakfasts and good nights of rest.
Next week will bring the PTO's first Family Movie Night - look for details on this FREE and fun event within this newsletter.
A reminder, please contact your child's teacher as well as the school office if you have a change in your after school transportation plans. One email, with both the teacher's name and Ixonia@oasd.org included, will do the job!
Have a great weekend!
Please join us for a Referendum Information Night!
On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Oconomowoc Area School District residents will have the opportunity to vote on a $54.9 million referendum plan that addresses capacity and high priority capital maintenance needs at Meadow View Elementary, Ixonia Elementary, Greenland Elementary, Park Lawn Elementary, Oconomowoc High School Main Campus, and the East Campus/former Wilkinson Clinic. To provide parents, staff and residents with the facts needed to make an informed decision at the polls, the district is hosting Referendum Information Nights.
Ixonia Elementary School will have an Information Night on Monday, Sept. 26 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Gym. No RSVP is necessary. There will be no formal presentation, but Superintendent Roger Rindo, facilities experts and school staff will be available to answer questions. Display boards with conceptual site plans and construction timelines will be on display. Tours will be available. We encourage community members, parents and staff to attend!
For more information, including project costs, frequently asked questions and an estimated tax impact, visit the Referendum section on the district website at www.oasd.org. A comprehensive referendum newsletter will also be mailed to all district residents in October.

Nut allergies
Several students at Ixonia School have severe food allergies that include peanuts/tree nuts. If exposed to peanuts/tree nuts, these students may develop a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment. We are asking for your assistance to provide a safe environment for all students to learn and grow.
In collaboration with our district nurse, Ixonia School has developed a healthy school plan to keep all students safe. To reduce the risk of exposure, certain areas of the lunch room and ALL classrooms (including the office and health room) will be peanut/tree nut free zones. It is important that all of our classes are nut-free, as many times classrooms work with others in other rooms. For birthdays or other special treats (pre-packaged or homemade), a complete ingredient list must be provided to the office. This includes any items that indicate "may have been processed with nuts." I also remind you to be aware during any field trips to avoid sending cold lunches with any type of nuts as well. Thanks to you all for helping create a safe learning environment at Ixonia School!
