A Few Words On...
As the leader of St. Stanislaus Kostka Academy, I would just like to share a few words and thoughts on several topics and happenings in our school community.
A Few Words of Thanks
It was wonderful to host our families this past Thursday at our "Meet the Teacher Night." I hope that parents learned a lot more about our school, our teachers, and our plans for improving teaching and learning at St. Stan's in the future. If you missed the evening, you will be receiving an email from me at some point this week, so please be on the watch for it.
I also want to commend parents for making a dramatic improvement in getting students to school on time. We have had far fewer students arriving excessively late, which is a big positive for both them and classroom environments. Additionally, parent communication with the Main Office and Ms. Abby Torres regarding late arrivals or early dismissals has also been much better. Thank you for making sure your child avoids being tardy and for keeping the school informed.
Booster-thon Fundraiser
Our first fundraiser of the year will be a program called Booster-thon: Dance Fit which will encourage our students and families to raise money for our school by gaining pledges for a school-wide dance party at the end of the fundraiser. Money raised will go towards a long-term plan to create a STEM Lab at St. Stan's Academy where students might have the opportunity to engage in coding, robotics, or 3D printing activities.
This fundraising campaign relies heavily on parents simply sharing information with family, friends, and co-workers. You are now able to sign-up and begin sharing our campaign. The official fundraiser will kick-off on Monday, September 12 and end on Tuesday, September 20. During this time, students will have the ability to earn prizes and classrooms can earn special privileges if they reach certain goals each day. It never hurts to start early, so please sign-up your child(ren) today!
i-Ready Diagnostic Testing
Our students will be completing their first i-Ready Diagnostic Test this week. We are excited to gain valuable information on how we can best support struggling students and challenge those who need more rigor in their academics. Once teachers have had an opportunity to analyze their classroom data, they will share the information with families. Our goal is for every student to achieve what is called "typical growth" and for those who are behind to reach their "stretch growth." In order to do this, however, our teachers and students will need your support and encouragement.
Please consult these resources to learn more about how you can aid your child throughout the school year:
Gentle Reminders
No School Tomorrow (Monday, September 5)
Please remember that in observance of the Labor Day holiday, we will not be having any classes at St. Stan's on Monday. Our week will resume on Tuesday, September 6. We encourage you to take the opportunity to teach your children a little bit about Labor Day, so that they can better understand why it exists and why they are off from school. The resources below may guide you in that conversation:
Back-to-School Forms & Parent-Student Handbook
It is very important that all families review our Parent-Student Handbook and complete our Back-to-School Forms as soon as you are able. The Handbook has vital information on a variety of topics and the School Forms are necessary to have in cases of emergency. If you have any questions, please contact the Main Office.

Each week our grade-level teams will decide which of their students demonstrated awesome leadership in the classroom and around the school.
This week's "Leaders of the Week" are...
Ariya Taylor
K-2nd Grade Leader
Moises Urcino

Ivan Sanchez
