Protist
By Jessi Brotherton
Euglena
- Moves: This protist moves by its flagellum.
- Eats: Euglena has chloroplast, which means it can make its own food by the process of photosynthesis. The eyespot detects the light so the process can happen. It also absorbs nutrients through its cell membrane.
- Reproduce: Goes through a process called mitosis. It splits itself in half and becomes two. It is asexual binary fission.
- Respond: Eye spot helps it find light.

Amoeba
- Moves: Changes shape of its body (pseudopod).
- Eats: Surrounds tiny bits of food with pseudopods thats forms a food vacuole that looks like a bubble.
- Reproduce: Reproduces by binary fission.
- Responds: Turns into cyst when conditions are bad.
Ameoba
Paramecium
Move: It moves by its cilia.
Eat: Uses cilia to sweep food into the oral groove.
Reproduce: Asexual and sexual and is binary fission. This is called congregation.
Respond: Avoidance behavior and can sling out its cytoplasm which is called tricocyst.

Volvox
Move: It moves with two flagella.
Eat: This makes its own food called photosynthesis.
Reproduce: It produces daughter colonies.
Respond: It is in colonies, and there are so many colonies you can see volvox with the naked eye.
