Cyclone Central Remote Edition
April 3, 2020
A Message From Mrs. Rateno
TEAM Center,
I hope all of our Cyclone families are staying safe and healthy during this challenging time. I know I speak for all of our staff in saying that we miss your children very much, and we hope everyone is transitioning as smoothly as possible into your new routines.
I would like to take a minute to personally thank everyone for your collaboration as we navigated our first official week of remote learning together. Throughout this journey, our motto continues to be flexibility, teamwork, and empathy, and our Cyclone family has certainly come together to focus on all three! I have heard many stories this week of people stepping up to help each other with academic resources, connectivity, and family support.
Throughout this first week of remote learning, our focus has been on providing support for our families in connecting students to the curriculum, establishing new academic routines, and developing meaningful, supportive remote learning cultures. Although we have run into several obstacles, our students, parents, and staff have worked together to troubleshoot and make the best of this very difficult situation.
Our Virtual Spirit Week was a fun way to celebrate how lucky we are as a Cyclone community. I would like to thank Mr. DiMarino and our school’s Climate Committee for designing fun opportunities for our students to share, give thanks, and celebrate lucky moments with all of us. We appreciate all who were able to participate by completing the daily challenges and sharing Tweets!
This week, we have three days of remote learning ahead. (On Thursday, we have a professional development day, and we have Friday off.) Throughout the week, please continue to reach out to us if your child is struggling. Our teachers, interventionists, tech coaches, administrators, and counseling staff members are here to help your family in whatever way possible.
If you have not done so already, please connect with us on Twitter (@Mayfield_Center) using the hashtag #luckytobeacyclone. This has been a fun way for our community members to interact with one another and share adventures!
I wish you all a weekend filled with good health, comforting family time, and hopefully lots of sunshine!
Sincerely,
Kate Rateno

District Survey
We thank all of the families and students for their support and patience during this unique time. We know this first week of remote learning has had its set of challenges. As we continue our remote learning plan, we wanted to give our families an opportunity to provide feedback on ways we can continue to improve the online learning experience for students. Please take a moment to complete this survey to help refine our process.
