Welcome Leah
Welcome Leah Pikop. She was a mentor in the 4-H Health Rocks mentoring program last year as a Senior at Ralston High School. Now, Leah has returned to help out part-time as the “4-H Mentor coordinator” to support this year’s mentors for Health Rocks. Leah’s past experience as a mentor is a real asset as she helps to support the new mentors in learning how to be effective peer mentors.

Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Clover Kid Club
Parents and children ages 5-7 are invited to be a part of the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Clover Kid Program. The primary goal of Clover Kids is to promote the child's stages of development - intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. Participants can enroll in the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H program and participate in all the program’s contests, events, and county fair.
2021 dates and programs include:
- September 14 – Cooking and measuring
- October 5 – Bug out – Entomology presentation and activity
- November 9 – Fall Nature activity
- December 11 (10 am -12 pm) - New Year’s Celebration at Noon!
The programs (unless otherwise noted) will be held from 6-7 pm at the Douglas-Sarpy Extension office. All events are subject to change if the COVID status of our community changes.
The program is designed to provide 5- to 7-year-olds a variety of educational and recreational experiences in a non-competitive environment. Clover Kids provide an excellent opportunity for youth to achieve his/her highest potential because early life experiences affect future development.
Nebraska Extension Douglas-Sarpy Counties is located at 8015 West Center Road, Omaha. There is no cost to attend, but participants are asked to preregister with Rachel at rwright4@unl.edu.
Upcoming Events
Omaha Marathon Kids fall running club
Join Nebraska Extension for the Omaha Marathon Kids fall running club. All Omaha area youth are invited to join the virtual club to work towards running a marathon during the fall months.
You can run, jog, walk, dance or even skip your way to a marathon. All active minutes add up to help you reach 26.2 miles! Every 5 minutes of heart-pumping activity counts as a ¼ of a mile. The club is free and miles are tracked online or with a paper mileage log. We officially start tracking miles on September 22nd and will finish up December 21st.
The great thing about this club is that it is perfect for all fitness levels. You just need a pair of shoes and some space to move. Soon the minutes will add up to miles and eventually you’ll have reached a full marathon! Two optional in-person events will be held at Nebraska Extension (8015 W. Center Rd. Omaha, NE 68124) on October 2 and November 13 from 10:30 AM -11:30 AM. The hour will be full of active games, so please bring water and dress comfortably.
