School Safety
Sycamore Families,
In light of the recent tragedy in Parkland, Florida, we wanted to take the opportunity to further communicate our plans regarding school safety.
We continue to be vigilant in our efforts to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff. Members of Blue Ash and Montgomery Police, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and Symmes and Loveland Fire Department all take part in our Safe and Secure Schools Committee, which meets frequently throughout the year with district administrators, teachers, and students, to improve our safety plans and conduct threat assessments. While we cannot share the exact details of those plans for security purposes, we wanted to share a few measures already in place at E.H. Greene Intermediate School.
ALL building doors are locked during the school day.
A visitor sign-in procedure requires visitors to be buzzed into a secured area. We are in the process of adding a license/ID check-in procedure.
Safety drills are conducted, including tabletop exercises, lockdowns, and full evacuation drills.
ALICE training is provided for students and staff.
Each classroom is equipped with a window punch-tool in case of an evacuation.
The school supervises the hallways, the cafeteria during lunch and outdoor recess, and entrances and exits during arrival and dismissal.
Our high school and junior high School Resource Officers along with other local police officers regularly visit our schools to build relationships with our students.
In case of an emergency, do you know where to go to be reunified with your student?
Blue Ash Recreation Center (4433 Cooper Road, 45242)
As members of the community, did you know we have the following resource available?
Sycamore Schools is finalizing a partnership with Children’s Hospital to provide direct access to mental health care services. More information will be released in the coming weeks regarding this new program.
Lastly, we need your help. If you and your students see something, say something. We strongly encourage you to have conversations with your students about reporting the suspicious behavior--or report the behavior to administration directly, or call or text the Ohio Safer Schools 24/7 Tipline anonymously at 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764)
Please look for additional information, including the upcoming State of the District video, as we continue to improve our safety plans. We look forward to always providing a safe learning environment in which students can reach their full potential.
Thank you,
Matthew A. Tudor
