Your neighbors are birds and deer.
A firepit for the perfect relaxation at the end of the day.
The rear porch affords plenty of spaciousness for bird watching or just sheer relaxation.
Please come in
Relax for the day or evening.
Or relax in the extended kitchen. Stuffed chairs? But of course.
Put on your cross country skis for a trip back to the river. Or turn on that fireplace when you get back.
Sit deep and relax
The lodge at night
The Kitchen is spacious and roomy
A spacious kitchen features a convection oven/range, large refrigerator/freezer, and Keurig coffee maker.
Plenty of cupboard space makes anything easy here.
The dining nook doubles as a sitting room to watch the deer and wildlife.
Lift Top Coffee Table
Take your coffee to the kitchen couch. Put it on the table.
It Pops Open
Bring your coffee right up to you. Place your laptop next to it. Go surfing. (Don't do emails. You came here to relax.)
And Closes Down
Put the lid back down. Get away from your laptop.
Acorn Lodge’s Hot Tub
Let's Go Downstairs
Use a Keurig for yourself or make a whole pot for the gang.
Snack Island is right here in the lower level of Acorn Lodge.
But of course.
A pool table and a piano await you.
The recliners are so comfortable you'll be out like a light in just a minute. Push button control of course.
Lodge House Piano
An upright piano from the days of yore: perfect for the sounds in an up-north lodge. Stand around and sing the old songs. It'll take you back.
There's plenty of room in here so come on in.
The sauna was designed right down to the last nail by a Finnish company from Ontario, and installed by our incredible builder Rod Reinke. Oh, and there's a straight run out the lower level door for a roll in the snow when you're done.
Green Leaf Bowl Sink
This picture will be of our green leaf bowl sink (as shown) in the sauna. It's being installed in just a few days.
Warm Woodwork Everywhere You Look
In homage to the Ottawa tribe that inhabited this region during the 1700s and beyond, Chief Pontiac welcomes you to the trails and to Acorn Lodge.
Look close and you'll see the turkeys sneaking through the woods. (Psst! You might have to expand the picture to see them!) Cunning, wily and fast, Potawatomi Chief Turkeyfoot (named for the elusiveness of this bird), was a friend of Chief Pontiac. Chief Turkeyfoot roamed this area.
The Chief awaits your arrival.
Take the walking trail out back. You'll find all sorts of birds, wildlife, and plenty of deer tracks as you stroll back to the river.
Birch and Beech trees grow among the other deciduous trees. You may hear one of the many owls who live here, including the Barred Owl, Screech and Great Horned Owls. One second thought, you might not see them but they'll sure be seeing you.
The Serenity of Nature
You're almost to the bucolic Flint River, where it slowly winds through the area known as "Lapeer Bluffs."

No shower curtain here. It's big enough you don't need one.
Now let's go upstairs
The view from the loft
Weary Traveler Room on the left.
Comfortable and private. A beautiful view out the window is yours. (Unless, of course, you're sleeping.)

Again, comfortable and private. The beauty of the woods is your backdrop.

Our friend on the wall

There's even a little "remove your shoes" room for your clodhoppers.
