St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 6 | 18 NOVEMBER 2021
Father, I offer you all my thoughts and all my words.
All that I do, all that I enjoy, and all that I suffer today.
I pray that I may serve you faithfully, and do your will in all things.
For the love of you, and the love of my brothers and sisters, Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community
It is very hard to believe that the end of the year is rapidly approaching, and all classes are heavily involved in lots of extra activities. Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 girls cricket team for making the Woolworths Cricket Blast School Cup State Finals. They will compete tomorrow, fingers crossed they bring home the trophy!
Nothing creates more excitement then when you arrive at school to see the Scitech van parked in the driveway. This week, Mrs Celedin, organised an amazing Scitech incursion for all our students in Pre-Primary to Year 6. The workshops focused on Earth and Space sciences with the highlight being the Spacedome! Thank you to Mrs Celedin for facilitating this fabulous, hands-on experience.
Thank you to our wonderful Early Years Staff who ran the 2022 Parent Information Sessions for Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten. A reminder that the Year 4 teachers will be running an ICT Parent Information Session on Monday, November 22 for our Year 3 parents. This session will cover everything you need to know about the BYOD Program here at St Columba’s.
Next Wednesday the whole school will take part in a ‘Step-Up’ Transition morning starting at 9:15am. The aim of this morning is for all students to move to their classrooms for 2022, meet the teachers who will be taking that year level and participate in some activities. Please be aware that while students will meet the teachers, they will not find out which class they will be in until the end of Term 4.
Our annual Carols Concert is on Friday December 3. It is expected that all students from Pre-Primary to Year Six attend this school event as each class will perform a carol. If your child cannot attend for any reason, please email the schools admin address: admin@stcolumbassp.wa.edu.au for the attention of Mrs Clarke. The choir will commence singing at 5.45pm with classes performing from 6pm. All students Pre-Primary to Year 6 are to be dropped off to their classrooms by 5.30pm. Choir students will give their attendance to their classroom teacher and then proceed to the music room by 5.15pm. Students are to wear Christmas colours, green, red or gold t-shirts or dresses, and/or Christmas hats and accessories. The more Christmas colours and accessories, the better!
Please take note of the new, simpler process for booklists next year - details are in the newsletter.
Finally, to our very hard-working P&F team I wish you all the best for the St Columba’s Christmas Fair on Sunday. The weather forecast looks sensational and I’m sure it will be a wonderful success.
Have a lovely weekend!
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke

Woolworths Cricket Blast Regional Finals
On 11 November at Yokine Reserve selected students in Years 5 and 6 attended the WWCB School Cup Regional Finals. The team achieved selection for this competition by winning our local CAPSS Cricket Carnival. The students represented St Columba's in one Girls team over four modified cricket games with 28 teams in the girls competition. St Columba’s played very competitively in some tough competitions throughout the day. The hard efforts of our girls meant they were successful in being one of seven teams to qualify for the State competition being held at the WACA next Friday!
A special thank you to Mrs Edmondson and Mr Dawson who ran the many trainings in the lead up and coached the teams on the day, plus our many supporters who attended the event. The commitment from of our parent helpers and the dedication of our students made this possible. We are very proud of our student’s efforts, displaying their cricketing abilities and being excellent representatives of their school.
Well Done!!!
