What do they do?

General Surgeons perform surgery on the abdominal contents like the esophagus, stomach, gallbladder, and liver. They improve life for others by relieving pain. People are then able to live better lives and be able to do more things. General Surgeons can be a blessing to others, but it is not an easy career to get into. You have to take 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, and 5 years of residency.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics

How does General Surgery relate to STEAM?

Science: Surgeons work inside the human body and prescribe medications for less pain.

Technology: Robots often assist with surgery and surgeons also use scopes with cameras to see the body better.

Engineering: Surgeons sometimes make artificial organs and they have to make it work with the rest of the body.

Arts: You have to practice before you do surgery so you do the procedure right and be a blessing to your patients.

Mathematics: When Surgeons prescribe medications, the weight of the patient usually determines how much of the medicine they take.
