Catching up with Comets ~ Bob Louy
This is a section where we would like to showcase and highlight the wonderful things Genoa graduates are doing in their selective career fields. The college and career ready component is something that Genoa high school is striving to focus on as we prepare students for a future. We hope that these thoughts and highlights shared will help spread some wisdom obtained by Genoa high school past graduates. This week, we will spotlight, Bob Louy who is a 1992 graduate.
What was one good memory from high school that students today may enjoy hearing from your high school days?
The end of the year talent show were you would see people you've been with for years and had no idea how talented they were. Those were a lot of fun.
After high school what path led you to where you are today? (After HS until Today)
I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and after I went through the 5 year apprenticeship for HVAC at the Plumbers and Pipe fitters union Local 50. I've been there for 18 years.
What are your plans for the future?
Seeing my youngest graduate from Genoa then retiring someplace nice and just relaxing.
What would be one word of advice that you have for high school students now at Genoa?
Don't let anyone's opinion be a deciding factor in your future. When you find a career path that you want to pursue you need to put 100% into it, even if it's not what others think you should do. It's your life and you only get one so make yourself happy.
