WEEK AT A GLANCE - APRIL 6-10
APRIL 10 - STAFF AND STUDENT HOLIDAY
All LISD students and staff will take a well-earned break from at-home learning on Friday, April 10, which is a scheduled holiday on the 2019-20 academic calendar.
WEBEX AT-HOME LEARNING TOOLS
The district last week sent an email with important information regarding Cisco WebEx, the tool LISD staff will be using to communicate with students for at-home learning. If you missed that communication, please visit the LISD website to learn more. You should receive more information from teachers about how they are using WebEx for virtual instruction in their classes, and how to access recorded lessons if your student is unable to access their device while live lessons are occurring. In addition to giving students a platform to communicate with teachers, students will also be able to communicate with each other. We want to encourage parents and adult caregivers to be engaged to ensure the appropriate use of these learning tools.
AT-HOME LEARNING PLANS
Teachers at each level have created learning plans with work students are expected to complete. Please work with your student’s teachers regarding the submission of work.
At-home learning plans for the week can be found here:
GRADING PRACTICES
We know many of you have questions about the district’s grading practices during this time. We are working hard to finalize our plans and will be communicating further soon. It is important to note - students are expected to complete the assignments provided by their teachers. We encourage you to communicate with your teachers if your student is having difficulty completing their assignments.
Reminders:
TECHNOLOGY
Our priority is to ensure each family has one device to use for completing school work. If your family has technology needs, please complete this form and we will reach out to see how we can help. LISD staff members are first contacting families who indicated they don’t have any devices. If you receive a call or message from us, please return that call so we can help you!
FREE MEALS
Currently, LISD is serving free lunch and breakfast grab & go meals, via drive-thru to all children age 18 or under. For specific locations and times visit LISD.net/COVID19Meals. No meals will be served on April 10, as the district observes a scheduled student and staff holiday.
FAQS
We know there are a lot of questions, and we are trying our best to get them answered as soon as possible. As answers become available, they will be added to the frequently asked questions page: LISD.net/COVID19FAQ.
While all LISD facilities remain closed, the latest updates and resources can be found at LISD.net/COVID19. We are a strong community and will continue to support one another through this time. Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Lewisville ISD family.

Talk it Out TUESDAY
It’s easier to talk about your feelings if you can name them and know how they make you feel. Putting feelings into words helps us use self control. Practicing this before a child feels emotional helps the child learn and understand the feeling. Continue talking with your children and using the Feeling journal that was introduced last week will only benefit when a situation happens that causes your child distress. Share this video with your child(ren) and see if they can guess the right emotion! Check out this link to learn more about the importance of talking about your feelings.
Wellness WEDNESDAY
Take time out of each day to think of the wellness of your mind and body. Remember to eat healthy foods and have healthy thoughts. Enjoy this fun yoga exercise to help you get into the spirit of wellness from Cosmic Kids called “Betsy the Banana” .
Think Through It THURSDAY
Grades: PreK-2nd
We have now been together in our homes for 2 weeks. We are staying in our homes so that we can stay safe from contacting a virus. Discuss with your children that there are many workers including truck drivers, store workers, hospital workers, trash collectors, fire department workers, and police department workers that continue to work each day to keep us healthy and safe. These workers are heroes. We are also heroes by following the directions to stay home and safe. Watch this short, fun song about being a hero.
It is important that we thank these workers for their service. Have your child write a thank you note or draw a picture to send to one of these places.
Grades: 3rd-5th
Watch this Video and discuss how during this time of e-learning, How can you be a hero for your family as well as in your community?
