RCS Media Updates
October 2016 Updates
Greetings!
I hope that October has been a good month for you. I know a lot of you have had book fairs, parent nights, and special events recently. Please continue to share the great things happening in our RCS media centers.
As a reminder, we will be meeting this Thursday, October 27th from 1pm - 4pm in the BTWLC PD Room. Feel free to add items for discussion to our agenda also.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to support you.
Thanks,
Christy

Copyright Module in Home Base
From Kathy:
Teachers...
- "Demonstrate understanding of intellectual property rights by abiding by copyright law, intellectual property, and fair use guidelines" (NC Digital Learning Competency, effective July 2017)
- "Teach and require the use of copyright law and fair use in student work and creation" (NC Digital Learning Competency, effective July 2017)
Administrators...
- "Promote and model positive digital citizenship as well as practical policies for communication and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure responsible, effective digital teaching and learning practices throughout all school processes" (NC Digital Learning Competency, effective July 2017)
At the DTL Division's NCTIES Directors' Meeting this past spring, several participants in the copyright discussion voiced the need for a copyright course for educators. I would like to flag for you that one has been developed and is now available as a self-paced module in Home Base/NCEES. It is entitled Copyright in the K–12 Classroom and participants may earn 1 CEU for its completion. Please consider sharing this information with your educators.
