Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten we had an explosive time learning about Volcanoes and a Seussatical time learning about Dr. Seuss. We explored the the “Pacific Ring of Fire” and how volcanoes create island, separate land and how lava flows move. We also dug deep into the earth to find how gases and rocks make up different types of lava and volcanic eruptions.
We also learned about the themes and writing style that Dr. Seuss used in his books and compared them to children's stories today. We also read about children's books from the past and how they are much different from present day books.
Our favorite thing was having our special guest authors come in and read to us on Friday and dressing up daily to the themes of Dr. Seuss’ stories!
First Grade
This week in reading Mrs. Beckman’s class read the realistic fiction story “The New Friend” and learned about contractions with pronouns! In math we took the chapter 9 measurement and telling time assessment and had a great rest of the week with our extended learning fun. By this point all permission slips for Gatorland should be turned in and all payments should have been made on Schoolpay. Have a great weekend!
Ms. Molnar’s class learned all about animals and drawing conclusions this week. We wrapped up our comparing numbers chapter in math and are getting ready for our Gatorland field trip!
