Mission
The mission of Loveland elementary school, in partnership with our actively involved community, is to promote excellence and instill a desire for learning by challenging each individual within a safe, supportive environment.
Loveland's Expectations
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Dear Loveland Families,
Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding Wednesday afternoon during dismissal. As always, I will follow our safety plans and procedures when it comes to the safety of our students, I take that role very seriously.
I am proud of our staff and students for taking quick action when the sirens sounded. I know our students were in a safe location. The Loveland 6th grade classrooms were designed and built as storm shelter.
Thank you parents for helping keep our community of learners safe. Your understanding and patience during this difficult time made the jobs of our staff much easier.
Ms. Hornung

From Dr. Lucas
We are excited to end our 1st semester on a strong note next week. We hope everyone is able to enjoy the upcoming winter break. We continue to be very thankful for the amazing students and supportive community that we get to serve throughout Westside Community Schools.
Now that all students aged 5+ have had the opportunity to pursue vaccination, we will transition to OPTIONAL MASKING for PreK-12thgraders and staff on all campuses when second semester begins on Wednesday, January 5th. We will continue to visit with the Douglas County Health Department about appropriate mitigation processes for positive cases within classrooms.
We will continue to analyze our internal data, as well as community-wide data, every day. Please understand that we will go back to required masking in all buildings if we see a major increase in the number of confirmed cases and/or quarantines that force our students to miss school. We might have a week or two of optional masking in January and decide we need to return to mandatory masking. We will be prepared to adjust as needed if/when the time comes.
We will also remain in close contact with medical experts at UNMC, Douglas County Health Department, and Children’s Hospital on a regular basis but any decision we make doesn’t mean that it has been endorsed or encouraged by any individual medical provider or organization.
Best Wishes,
Mike Lucas

Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the District collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.
2022 Battle of the Books
Mark your calendars to join us for the 2022 Battle of the Books on March 19, 2022 at Westside Middle School! This annual Westside district tradition provides an opportunity for teams of 3-5 students in 4th-6th grade to participate in a quiz bowl-style competition where they answer questions based on content from the 2021-2022 Golden Sower nominees.
Please visit our FAQ or Rules pages for more information about the event. Registration will be in October. Happy reading!
