CELL PHONE POLICY REMINDER
Please see the reminder below about electronic devices at school. We are currently reminding all students because when we start our state testing in April for grades 3-6, all cell phones and smart watches will be collected and stored in a safe location in our office. This is per testing guidelines and district policy. No devices are in classrooms during testing. Thanks for reviewing the school policy and reminding your child.
Electronic Devices (iPods, cell phones, tablets, etc.)
Personal electronic devices are not permitted during the school day. Students may use these items on the way to and from school but once on school grounds, these items must be turned off and put away. Devices can be stored in backpacks or in a location in the classroom provided by the teacher. Teachers are not responsible for keeping any electronics for students, however teachers may create a classroom system to store devices that works for the class. The school is not responsible for these personal items.
Should a student have an electronic device out during the school day, the system below will be followed:
First time-student will be asked to turn the phone or device off and place in backpack or secure location within the classroom.
Second time-the phone or device will be collected by the teacher and kept until the end of the school day.
Third time-the phone or device will be collected by teacher and turned into the main office. Parent/Guardian will be contacted and required to come and pick up phone/device from main office. (At this point, student will receive a consequence for misconduct and non-compliance of following expectations.)
Fourth time-the phone or device will be collected by teacher and turned into the main office. Parent/Guardian will be contacted and required to come and meet with classroom teacher and principal regarding phone or device. (At this point, student will receive a consequence for misconduct and non-compliance of following expectations.)
Thank you for your support. If you have questions about your child’s phone usage at school, please start by contacting your child’s teacher.
PLEASE KEEP COLLECTING BOX TOPS!
