Work in Progress -

Class of 2020 students and families,

We are working this week to more fully develop our plans for graduation. As we've received more guidance form the district and are waiting on guidance from the state, the West Valley staff has been busy working on tentative plans for graduation. Thank you to everyone who has sent in ideas and thoughts on how we can best celebrate our seniors during these difficult times.

Graduation Items Pick-up:

Perhaps most importantly - we will have caps, gowns, honor cords and medallions, and loans NHS stoles available for pick-up tomorrow (Tuesday) from 10am-2pm outside the PAC doors of West Valley. Becky from Herff Jones sent out information and there is also information above about how to pick-up your items.

Yard Signs:

One of our school-business partners, Dateline Digital Printing approached us about printing yard signs for seniors. We want to make sure that every student receives one, so I will be ordering them for the whole class using the photos submitted to the yearbook. Once we have a timeline we will arrange drop-off or pick-up of the signs. If your family would like to make a donation toward this effort, you can contact me directly.

Even though we don't know exactly what graduation will look like, we do want to start gathering some additional information we know we'll need, below are a couple forms for students to complete: If you can't see the forms below - follow the links - STUDENTS you need to be signed in to access some of the forms.

Name Pronunciation:

I am looking to get a phonetic or 'rhymes with' pronunciation of students names, so there is form to complete below or through this link. There is also the option to include a media file of the pronunciation.

Commencement Nominations: For Students

Students - we are not 100% sure what graduation will look like yet - but we want to be prepared for once we do start making plans. There is a form for you to complete nominations as we would have regularly - so we can have those in case we utilize them.

What is most important to you?

We don't know exactly what graduation looks like - but we do want to make sure that we include what's most important to each of you. If you select the elements that matter the most to you, we will hopefully see where we can focus our efforts. We do know that it's important that we all feel connected during this time - so we hope we can do that for all of you.

Thank you students and families for taking this time to provide us with your thoughts and feedback. Below is also the spirit week student council put together for this week - another way to stay connected even though we are physically distanced.

Take care, and if you need anything - don't hesitate to reach out. I am, as always, so proud of each of you.
