USC Elementary REBEL Review

You Matter! Every Child - Every Day

November 2018

The colder weather is soon upon us! Brrr....... please make sure that your child comes to school prepared to be outside in the colder weather for recess. Our policy is to send children outside unless the temperature or wind chill is zero degrees or colder. We also keep students inside when it is too wet. Jackets, boots, snow pants and hats and gloves/mittens are required. Thanks so much for your help!

Third and Fourth graders had their first Community Club day on Wednesday, October 17th! It was a BLAST! They participated in groups and explored different problem solving challenges and projects including paper airplane challenges, egg drop challenges, bridge building, coding and more. They found that teamwork was an important part to solving the problems. Thank you to the USC Education Foundation for your support!! We are looking forward to the next Community Club day!!

Growth Mindsets - The 7 Mindsets - Attitude of Gratitude

We continue to challenge our students to have growth mindsets and giving their best! We will again be using the 7 Mindsets curriculum to help us foster this thinking in each of our students. this month our Mindset is Attitude of Gratitude!

The Attitude of Gratitude mindset teaches us the importance of seeking the positives from every experience and being thankful for all that we have. Through this mindset, we learn that we can use the positives or the negatives of our lives as the foundation on which to build. Choose the positives, and we are on our way toward extraordinary success; choose the negatives, and we embark on path toward disappointment, resentment, and suffering. In these lessons, we guide students to focus on all the things they have, leaving no time to be distracted by what they don’t.
