Hollydale HERO Highlights
A news publication for the parents and students of Hollydale
A Word from the Principal… Ms. Ramirez — May 2021
May 13, 2021
Dear Hollydale Families,
It's hard to believe, but the end of the 2020-21 school year is almost here!
The last day of in-person hybrid instruction will be Tuesday, June 15.
Wednesday, June 16, is the last day of school for all students, with the morning SEL meeting taking place as always.
There will be many things coming up, so please be sure to read the newsletter each week to keep up with the information as we share it.
For the 2021-22 school year, all students will be moving up to their next grade level. Please feel confident that the unfinished learning from this year due to Covid-19 will be seriously and vigorously addressed.
Save the Date(s)
We will be collecting Chromebooks, cases (iPad from the kindergarteners), and the Journeys textbooks. The tentative dates for those items to be turned in are Thursday, June 17, and Friday, June 18. Please save those dates on your calendar; more information to follow soon.
We are in the process of working on an end-of-the-year school-wide celebration, as well as a celebration for our 5th graders who are moving on to Middle School. We don't have anything definite quite yet. Stay tuned for details!
If you know a neighbor or friend who opted to withdraw their student from Hollydale for this year (i.e, homeschooling, private school, etc.) and who is planning on re-enrolling at Hollydale for next year, please have them call or email Cheryl Eki at, firstname.lastname@example.org and she can help them with that process.
If you have any questions or would like to connect with me, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at email@example.com or by phone 503-661-6226. It is an honor to be a member of the Hollydale community and I look forward to working with each of your children.
3rd Grade Water Filtration Project
Third grade has been working on creating a water filter to help places in the world where they are not fortunate to have clean water.
In the book "The Water Princess" that the students have been reading, one such place is Burkina Faso in Africa.

Complete all four challenges to be entered to win the Grand Prize!

The third challenge begins Monday, May 17! Check with your child’s school if you are in need of supplies to complete the challenges.
A Message from Clear Creek Middle School to our 5th Graders
We want to welcome you and your soon-to-be 6th grader to Clear Creek! Please check out our 6th Grade newsletter:
¡Queremos darles la bienvenida a Clear Creek a usted y a su futuro alumno de sexto grado! Por favor, consulte nuestro boletín informativo de sexto grado. Esperamos enviar uno cada dos semanas.
A NOTE FROM OUR NURSE
If your child is not feeling well, please call the office to let them know as soon as possible. Jessica Nguyen, the Care Room health assistant, will contact you for more information regarding your child's symptoms. If necessary, I will also contact you to determine when your child can return to in-person learning. These phone calls will be brief and will be kept confidential.
If your student becomes sick at school, it will be important to pick them up as soon as possible. While they are waiting to be picked up they will be kept in a space that is separate from other students and staff that is safe, comfortable, and supervised. Please make sure your emergency contact phone numbers are up to date.
Please continue to do the following to keep yourself, your family, and the school community safe:
- Stay home when sick
- Wash hands frequently
- Avoid touching your face
- Wear a face covering when not at home
- Stay at least 6 feet from others outside of your immediate family
If you or someone in your household has been notified that they are a “close contact” with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or you or a household member have tested positive, please keep your student at home and call the office to let them know as soon as possible.
