Writing Contest Winner! Again this year, Middle School students participated in The Bar of Montreal’s Write for Justice competition in their English classes. Congratulations to Preston Garcia de la Vega (7-2), who was chosen as this year's winner, giving Selwyn House the honour for the fifth year in a row! Preston will attend the prize ceremony in April, meet a judge, and get a courthouse tour.
Congratulations to Grade 8 students who are representing Selwyn House March 26-28 at the Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair, sponsored by Hydro-Québec: Vojtech Blasch & Diego Kestenband, Max Baltuch, William Li & Nathan Chen, and Spencer Roiter & Oli Morin. 2023-2024 Parent Academic Information Evening on Wednesday, March 29 @ 7:00 pm. This presentation is for parents of students currently in Grade 8. At 7pm, Grade 8 parents will meet in the Rossy Agora with Mr. Banerjee, Head of Senior School, regarding the transition to Senior School, and then move to Coristine Hall to hear about Grade 9 course option selections for 2023-2024. Students are welcome but not required to attend; presentations have been made to students at school. For more information contact Ms. Brenda Montgomery. All parents will be emailed a copy of the presentation after March 29.
Middle School Intensives Showcase: This year, we are inviting all MS parents to join us on Tuesday, April 18 for a showcase of the Intensives Week (being held April 3-6). The full invitation can be viewed here. Please RSVP before April 11 if you can attend.
Inside and Outside shoes required! Students are outside in the snow for recess every day! Dress shoes and gym shoes should be kept for indoor use only. Outside shoes or boots are required and are left in the lockers after each recess. If you need to update your footwear over the break, please do so!
Get organized for Term 3! Term 3 is worth 60% of the overall grade. We encourage students to take advantage of our tutorials in math, science and (for Grade 7 only) French & geography. Focus (supervised after-school homework room) is available on a drop in basis from 2:50-5:50pm Monday-Friday. For more details and fees contact Ms. Beech. A locker shelf may help your son get organized! We recommend this eco-friendly shelf for our 15” Middle School lockers. It also helps to keep locker contents above the puddles made by winter boots!
Personalize this year’s Yearbook! Yearbook Recognition Ads are a great way for families to commemorate student achievements and important milestones, personalized with your own sentimental message and a cherished photo or photo collage. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’ll last forever! Follow these instructions to purchase your ad online before the deadline of May 13, 2023. Please do not contact or send materials to the school. Contact Ms. Kelli Poulin with any questions.
Gryphon Sale Donations Needed! As spring approaches and you want to make room in your closets, please drop off any gently used uniform items in the bins right at the front of the school. Receiving the donations well in advance of the sale is very helpful and much appreciated. Save the date, the next Gryphon Sale is on May 17, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Rossy Agora.
