Creating a vision for D230's future
A message from Dr. Robert J. Nolting
To All D230 Students, Families, and Staff,
District 230 is very proud to launch this second opportunity to gather stakeholder feedback regarding our Mission/Vision/Framework. The 10,000-plus pieces of input provided by community members in the first round [click here for full report] coupled with the analysis and work of a 75-member committee, has left us in a great spot. I strongly encourage you to share your thoughts in this next phase so we can get all voices heard in this very large community to build a meaningful mission/vision/framework that will guide our district in the future.
We are using a new platform called Crowdicity for this virtual engagement. The district-wide committee has developed three draft mission statements and three draft vision statements and we would like your feedback and insights to help us move final statements forward. Like the virtual engagement platform we used last spring to gather your initial insights for our strategic planning, we invite you to rate and provide comments on the draft statements. Your feedback will be used by the Administration and School Board as we finalize our vision and mission for the future of D230.
How it Works
Crowdicity operates as both a survey (ranking of ideas) and online conversation to crowdsource ideas. Participation is about not only rating each draft statement, but also about sharing your reactions, feelings and suggestions about the statements.
1) To participate, click HERE
ON A LAPTOP/DESKTOP, click the “Register” button in the upper right
ON A MOBILE DEVICE (PHONE/TABLET), click on the profile button (person icon) in the upper right and select “register”
You will need a valid email address to register for the platform
Verify with the password associated with your email address
Agree to the terms of use
Click "register"
NOTE: like other online registrations, you should receive a confirmation email to confirm that you are indeed registering on the platform and not spam.
Once you confirm your registration, you will be taken to the D230 able to see the challenges available to the District 230 community. (At this time, you will see only the one challenge about draft mission and vision statements, but we hope to utilize this platform more in the future to help solicit insights and enhance community engagement.)
2) Once registered, go the D230 Crowdicity homepage and select the ““Feedback and Insights on Draft Mission and Vision Statements” challenge
First, indicate your level of support for each of the three draft mission statements and three draft vision statements by identifying 1 - 5 stars for each statement.
Second, provide in the comments for that statement your thoughts about:
the direction or intent of each statement
word choice,
agreement with the concepts included in the statements
Revisit the challenge anytime during the window (open through July 29) to provide additional insights or respond or rate the, comment of others
As Crowdicity has a gamification feature, you can check out the leaderboard to see what ideas have received the most stars. The more engagement you have, the higher your “leader” score.
Timeline
The District 230 Mission & Vision Statement challenge will remain open through the end of the day on Thursday, July 29. During that time you are encouraged to visit the platform multiple times to fully engage in the discussion, respond to ideas from others and contribute additional insights that will help the district refine and finalize its mission and vision for the future.
Thank you for taking part in this important process.
