Cell Superhero: Buzz Lightyear

Buzz Lightyear is just like the Lysosome in a cell.

Buzz Lightyear protects the galaxy, while a Lysosome protects the cell.

In the Pixar film, 'Toy Story,' Buzz Lightyear is a Space Ranger whose mission is to protect the galaxy from the threat of the Evil Emperor Zurg. In a cell, Lysosomes protect the cell from the threat of invasion by dangerous bacteria.

Buzz Lightyear takes orders from Star Command, just as a Lysosome follows the direction of the nucleus, which controls all of the cell's functions.

Lastly, the lysosome also digests unneeded materials in the cell, and recycles them to be used more effectively. One could argue that Buzz Lightyear works with the older toys in the film, and remakes them into a more effective team!
