The Mustang Memo

What's Happening at SEHS: August 26-31

SEHS Is Canning Hunger!

This Friday, ROTC will host a schoolwide Jeans Day to benefit the Manna House through Effingham County's Canning Hunger Woodman Life Food Drive.

Students may bring 3 canned items or $3 to wear school-appropriate jeans with a School Approved Friday Shirt or uniform shirt.

Please remember jeans should not have any holes or tears. See page 13 of the Effingham County Schools handbook for more details.

Wednesday is Picture Day!

Wednesday, August 28th is Underclassmen Picture Day and Senior Make-up Picture Day.

We will use this as our first non-uniform day.

Students are welcome to dress up to look their best for yearbook pictures. Although all students will not be required to wear uniforms, we expect all students to be dressed appropriately following the district policy outlined on page 13 & 14 of the 2019-2020 student handbook. Based on how this goes for us, we will determine how many more we will have for the rest of the year.

Please review this information below so that everyone is clear on expectations.

We want to place emphasis on the following items:

  • Clothing should be free of rips, holes, and cuts

  • Dresses, skirts, or shorts should be no more than 4 inches above the bend in the back of the knee

  • Clothing or accessories should not display inappropriate or suggestive language or graphics.

  • Students cannot wear jogging pants/shorts, pajama pants/shorts, leggings, or yoga pants/shorts or cargo pants/shorts

  • Students’ shoes should be closed heel and closed toe shoes (with no flip flops, Crocs, etc.)

Again, please see page 13 of the handbook under General Standards.

We look forward to a smooth Picture Day with our Mustangs!

Principal's Closing Thoughts

We are so excited about our first football win of the season down at Long County! We salute our players, coaches, game cheerleaders, band members, and parents who made the trek on the road! We're also excited to report a 5th (boys) and 9th (girls) place finish for our cross country team!

We are continuing to emphasize attendance - including tardies!

Is your child involved at SEHS? If not, there are many ways to get them connected to clubs and extracurricular activities! This establishes a strong, positive connection to other like-minded peers and a connection to school.

There are a number of activities to support this week, so let's show that Mustang PRIDE!

As we prepare for the Labor Day weekend, I hope our entire Mustang Nation remains safe!

Once A Mustang, Always A Mustang!
