SFCS celebrates 27 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
Over the weekend our basketball teams travelled to Greenville for the Diocesan Youth Basketball Tournament. Congratulations to the JV Girls' team, Coach Shelton, and Coach Tylus, for bringing home the bronze trophy! We are so proud of this young team and the coaches for leading these young ladies through the season! (see feature below and under Athletics - Basketball).
Our season of spring sports is about to begin so please be sure your student has turned in their participation form and fees. They will be unable to participate in practices and competitions until the signed form is received in the School Office. Information regarding practices and competitions will be communicated through Coach Moeller and/or the coaches from each team.
The last day for priority enrollment for the 2024-25 academic year for current families and siblings will be February 29. Open enrollment begins on March 1. Please be sure to return your re-enrollment forms to the School Office on or before February 29.
As a reminder, this Friday there is no school due to the faculty attending the Diocesan-wide Bishop's Retreat in Charleston.

MIDDLE SCHOOL TRIP TO DC
Parents of DC travelers met last Wednesday to review the students' itinerary, forms, and other important information. If you were unable to attend, packets were sent home with your student on Thursday. Please return all forms to the School Office no later than Friday, March 1. Thank you!

NO SCHOOL - Bishops Retreat for Faculty - March 1
On Friday, March 1, there will be no school for students while faculty attend the Bishop's Retreat in Charleston.
EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST FUND
On May 5, 2023, Governor Henry McMaster signed the Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act into law. This new ESA program—modeled after similar programs around the country—allows qualifying South Carolina parents to apply for a scholarship worth $6,000. Rev. Monsignor Martin T. Laughlin Scholarship
The Women of St. Francis has announced application for the Rev. Monsignor Martin T. Laughlin Scholarship for 2024.25 is now open! Applications are available in the School Office and must be submitted no later than March 22, 2024. Recipients of this scholarship will receive $1000 and will be notified on or before April 22, 2024.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Tuition Assistance Grant
The Diocese of Charleston has announced the application process for the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Tuition Assistance Grant for 2024.25 is now open! Applications are available in the School Office and must be completed and returned no later than March 15 to Mrs. Smith as signatures from both the Principal and Pastor are required. The Diocese must receive all applications in Charleston no later than March 27, 2024.

Are you new to SFCS or have free time and are searching for ways to get involved at SFCS? There are many opportunities for parents to get involved at our school. Opportunities to consider are:
- FSA (meetings, committees, events, Spirit Store)
- In individual classrooms (reading, tutoring, etc.)
- During lunch
- Athletics and athletic events (Coaching, concessions, gate admissions, etc.)
- Weekly School Mass Greeter
- School events (i.e. Middle School Dance planning and decorating, Advent Concert, field trips, International Day - Salute to America Show, 8th Grade graduation)

1ST GRADE
The first graders learned about U.S. Presidents, including Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.
2ND GRADE
Coinciding with President's Day, the 2nd grade class focused on the life and times of George Washington, our country's first president.
This past week, our Bake Club prepared yeast rolls for the Women of St. Francis Soup for Scholarship event. The SFCS bakers made close to 500 rolls for this annual event! Way to go Bake Club!

Dodgeball Round 2 and Championship
After completing Round 2 of the Dodgeball competitions last Thursday, the Houses of St. Adjutor and St. Sebastian faced off for the championship game. Congratulations to the St. Adjutor House for their Championship win and to the St. Sebastian House for placing as the runner up! The next competition will focus on academics.

Diocesan Tournament in Greenville
SFCS JV and Varsity Girls' and Boys' Basketball teams travelled to Greenville on Friday for the weekend play of the Diocese of Charleston Basketball tournament. Both the JV Boys' and Girls' teams as well as the Boys' Varsity team made it to the semi-finals on Sunday. The Varsity Boys advanced, playing for the Silver Championship. The JV Girls' advanced for the Bronze Championship and brought home the trophy! Congratulations to our JV Girls' team! We are proud of all of our teams and coaches for representing SFCS with excellence! Thank you to our coaches for their time and guidance during this season of play, and to our families for their support of SFCS athletics! 💙🤍💛

Lent 2024 - "What Are You Searching For?"
The St. Francis by the Sea Church Lenten Mission Planning Committee has extended the opportunity for students at St. Francis Catholic School in grades 1st through 8th, to participate in a fun word search activity focusing on Lent. Once students complete the word search, their teacher will award them with a certificate for a free pass for their family to the St. Francis Lenten Parish Mission on February 25 - 28.
St. Francis Thrift Shop - Volunteer Opportunities
