Deforestation

We have to stop Deforestation

What is Deforestation?!

Deforestation is the removal of trees for human use. To also make room for roads, farms, and buildings. However we are destroying a ton of animal homes and/or habitat. Deforestation occurs mainly in tropical rain forests. Ever since people began farming 11,000 years ago, they have been causing Deforestation. During the 1800s for example, Pioneers moving across the eastern part of the United States found a thick forest of many variety's of trees. By 2000, only 1/50 of that forest was left. Forests have fertile soil, and when we cut down all the trees, the fertile soil drys up faster.

Deforestation is a real problem, and we are doing it...

Deforestation has been a real problem because the trees deliver oxygen, or in other words the absorb carbon dioxide and transform it into oxygen, and without oxygen we could not breathe, therefore we would all die. Also the trees and forests provide food and protection for many different animals. Natural forests once covered most of the world, about half of these forests are remaining. The other half was destroyed.

Facts

The paper industry in producing greenhouse gas thereby majorly contributing to deforestation. On average a person uses 700 pounds of paper every year. Tropical rain forests covers 6-7% of the Earths surface contain over half of all the plant and animal species in the world. Changes in land cover, including deforestation are dynamic. The shrinkage of the Earths tropical rain forests from 1980-1996 was studied in a 1997 FAO survey of 3 billion ha(10,000 meters sq) of land (an area the size of Africa or more than three times the land of the United States) with several types of land cover.
