St. Mark's Parent Guild Bulletin

May 16, 2013

Tomorrow is the deadline for the End of Year Appreciation Fund, which is a great way to recognize St. Mark's teachers and staff. Participation is completely voluntary and we will collect donations to be divided equally. Click here to participate.

This year has been a fantastic year for St. Mark's and for the Parent Guild. We are so grateful for our AMAZING parents who share their time, talent and creativity. A very special thanks to our committee chairs for all they did to make this year special. Lastly, we are so grateful to our outgoing officers Carla Singer, Cathy Crabtree and Stacia Currier. All three of these ladies were devoted, energetic volunteers whose leadership will be missed.

Have a wonderful summer and we will see you at Open House!

Spiritwear Store - Tie-Dye shirts and Jacket Samples

Tomorrow is the last day the Lion's Den Spiritwear store will be open this school year. We have a handful of the summer tie-dye shirts to purchase and we have samples of the new boathouse rain jackets for students to try on. The order forms for the new St. Mark's embroidered belt and a boathouse rain jacket are due on May 24th. Both items are approved uniform pieces and can be worn to school. Click on the following links for the belt and the rain jacket order forms.

Drop off your Used Uniforms Next Week

We will offer a used uniform collection during morning carpool next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Simply put your uniforms in a bag and volunteers will take them from your car to resell in our summer sales.

Mark your calendar for our summer Used Uniform sales on June 19th, August 7th and August 20th. We are looking for volunteers to help sort, organize and work the sales. We will be sorting & organizing on June 17th & 18th. Please contact Patty Wailes at to learn more about volunteering.

Teacher Appreciation Week - THANK YOU!

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make Teacher Appreciation (May 6th - 10th) special! A huge thanks to committee chair, Tonya Pickron for organizing such an amazing week of treats! The teachers & staff all enjoyed a catered (and student-free!) lunch on Tuesday and received a special treat in their box each day including treats from Jerry Built & Arbonne.

Summer Reading

The Parent Education committee has selected "The Childhood Roots of Adult

Happiness: 5 Steps to Help Kids Create and Sustain Lifelong Joy" by
Edward M. Hallowell for our Fall Book Club.

Connection, play, practice, mastery, and recognition: as fundamental as these five concepts are, they hold the key to raising children with healthy self-esteem, moral awareness, and spiritual values.

Get a head start and begin reading over the summer, we will meet to discuss the book in early Fall.
