January Newsletter
Letter from Principal Walton
Dear Parents and Legal Guardians,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season! I am excited to begin another year with you in your child’s educational experience. My goal is to make this experience positive and enriching, meeting the needs of all our students and families at Roy B. Kelley. In order to do this successfully, I need your cooperation with the following safety procedures.
During the following times, do not enter the bus loop from 9 - 9:10 and 3:10 - 3:30. The loop is not a place to park during arrival and dismissal times. If you need to walk your child to their door, PLEASE park your car in the upper lot or far lower lot. If you are dropping off/picking up your child during arrival and dismissal time, STAY IN YOUR CAR! Do not get out of your car, because this holds up traffic. If your child needs assistance, myself or a staff member will assist. Please have your child exit on the passenger side.
You may park in the circle to drop off or pick up your child, or your child’s school supplies, outside of the times listed above. For example, your child has a medical appointment at 11:00, you may park in the bus loop to sign your child out.
At this juncture, we are at half capacity in each cohort so the traffic flow has been cut in half. I hope at some point we will be back to full capacity which means there will be 446 students in the building. Approximately more than half of this population is parent pick up and drop off, so many of you have experienced this and understand the importance of following these safety guidelines. For our new families, this is a HUGE challenge, especially when we begin to accumulate snow and ice. At one point, during my tenure at Roy B. Kelley, we had a security guard directing traffic. This is no longer in the budget, so PLEASE take your time and follow the outlined procedures for the safety of your child and others.
As always, if you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I welcome your comments and suggestions via email and phone.
Welcome Ms. Cain!
