Sarah Bryan

BA English, BA Journalism and Mass Communication

A little bit about me...

My name is Sarah Bryan, I am 29 and I have been a student with Ashford University for over three years. I recently completed my English major and I am finishing up my last handful of classes in my JMC major. I live in the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix, Arizona) with my amazing husband. We moved down here from Denver, Colorado for his career in golf. He is a Head Pro for a Golf Club. We are both fortunate enough to be doing what we love! We do not have kids but we do have a black Lab, Coda, who thinks he is a human. I guess that makes it kind of the same. He keeps us on our toes that is for sure! Upon graduating I will immediately commence work on a Masters in Creative Writing. My ultimate goal is to be a contract writer. I have had a few jobs writing content for websites, but unfortunately the work is not steady enough to quit my day job. I currently work in development for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. Our department organizes fundraising campaigns and events. It is an amazing job that I truly love.

I chose to be a mentor because I feel it is important to give back and help others be successful. I want to give students the support that I did not have when I started my journey.

My key to success: passion. I found something I cared about and wanted. And I put all of my energy into it. I set small goals and celebrated every major goal I hit. I also communicated with my professors and asked for their feedback and ways I could be successful. I kept a journal and all the feedback I received and everything I learned so I could go back and review.

I look forward to working closely with all of you!
