Paso Del Norte Elementary School Update
October 20, 2021
Message from Mr. Baldner, Principal
I hope everyone enjoyed some extra time with your Jaguar student(s) over Fall Intersession, but I am sure many of you were ready to send them back yesterday. :) It is a busy time of year between now and Winter/Christmas Break. We will continue to send reminders through Dojo and our call out system, but this newsletter gives a detailed overview of what is coming up at The Rainforest at Paso Del Norte Elementary School.
As always, we request that you help ensure your student attends school (unless they are sick) and works on our online programs outside of school (Lexia, Prodigy Math, iStation and soon a few more we purchased). Thank you for your continued support.
Entrance is free, but you must purchase $1 tickets at our ticket booths to participate in the games and activities. Food and drinks will be sold (cash only).
Costumes are encouraged to be worn, but they cannot completely cover a student's face. We must be able to recognize all students and attendees. Hope to see you there.
Note: we are no longer accepting vendors to sell food or other items.
Student-Led Parent Teacher Conferences
Students and parents will come and go between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. If you want to schedule a follow up one to one conference, you can do that while at the Student-led conference on October 27th.

When to keep my child home from school?
ESWIPE
As one of our district safety measures, all students must complete our electronic health and wellness screening called ESWIPE IF a student is feeling sick with any COVID symptom, if the student has just tested positive for COVID, or if a family member has just tested positive for COVID.
ESWIPE: https://my.sisd.net/public_apps/eswipe-public/#!/wellness
ESWIPE will prompt you to keep your child home and you will receive a call from the school nurse with next steps. Be sure to reach out to your child's teacher to get work while they are out.
Drop Off Reminders
- Drop off by 7:25 am at your designated side of the school.
- Please have your student ready to go as you wait in line for drop off. This means mask on, bag packed, and all belongings gathered.
- Have your child exit from the right side of your vehicle (even if their car seat or booster seat is on the left side). This is for safety reasons.
- If no one comes to your vehicle to open the door, have your child get out on his/her own (the exception to this would be some of our little students who might need assistance getting out).
- Do NOT get out of your vehicle in the drop off lanes. It stops traffic. Someone will come assist your child if necessary to get out of the vehicle.
- If you arrive after 7:30 am you will be routed to the front of school for drop off and your child will receive a tardy slip.
- DO NOT DROP STUDENTS OFF ON THE STREET. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN!
- The tennis court side is for 4th and 5th graders only. Younger siblings cannot be dropped on that side. However, older 4th and 5th grade siblings can be dropped with younger siblings on playground side of school.
Pick Up Reminders
If you don't have a car tag or drive various vehicles to pick your child up, we ask that you just make one on a piece of paper. Put student first and last name, teacher name, and grade level.
At 3 pm, any students who aren't picked up are taken inside the front office.
