CESA 10 Winter Google Days
Friday, Jan 16 <> Friday Feb 20 <> Monday, Feb 23
Come for a half-day, or more than one day! All Educators!
Course Descriptions
Google Sites
Google sites can be used as a teacher web page, student project page, or an ePortfolio. Sites can be totally or partially private or public and parts of them can even be interactive. Sites can contain documents, photos, videos, discussions, and much more. This session will get you started on creating your own Google Site.
Google +, Communities, and Hangouts [Note that Google + must be turned on in your district domain—if it is turned on, you will see your +name to the left of your sign-in.]
Use your online connections to create and participate in communities and hangouts with students and other professionals. With a “facebook-type” look, communities are useful in the classroom and for your professional development.
Mail, Groups, and Calendar
Learn the basics of using the mail and calendar features of Google Apps for Education. Create calendars to share with students, but keep your own events private. Groups will give you shortcuts for organizing and communicating with your students.
Google Earth and Google Maps
Google Earth is a phenomenal tool for use in any curricular area and any age. Learn how to create a virtual tour and explore the world’s famous and not-so-famous areas, as well as making use of the various tools included. Ideas for incorporating into your curriculum will be shared.
Google Drive, Docs, Forms, and Slides
The basics of Google Apps for Education and Google Drive. Learn how easy it is to create docs and forms (survey, quiz, questionnaire tool) and presentations and share them with others. Organization tips will also be shared.
Classroom
Google Classroom is a management/organization tool to facilitate document sharing, commenting, and resources with students. You will begin to create a Classroom for one of your courses.
Administrators — schedule any of these sessions for late start, early release, and professional development days.
