The Seahawk Scoop
September 21, 2020
Dear Beach Middle Families,
We will be reviewing the requests from those of you who have 7th and 8th graders and submitted for a change to your Option. We will inform everyone by the end of this week if we are able to accommodate your request.
I was able to pop into several classes this past week and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces. Our teachers have worked so hard to develop engaging learning plans while also making time to foster relationships within the classrooms. We have received very good feedback from students on the SEL bell. It is nice to start the day with a simple check in and just spend time getting to know one another.
If you haven't yet joined our amazing PTA, a membership form is linked at the bottom of the newsletter. This is a fabulous group that provides a lot of support for our students and staff. Please consider joining.
I hope everyone has a great week. Do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of any assistance.

Recording of Synchronous Instruction
When a student is absent from “live” or synchronous instruction, their teacher will provide them with the opportunity to have access to learning through comparable and equivalent lessons that were taught during the missed synchronous lesson. Teachers may accomplish this by:
- Recording direct, whole group instruction for students via Google Meet, Zoom or Schoology’s conferencing tool.
- Pre-recording a lesson (a flipped lesson) and making it available through Schoology.
- Providing students with access to previously recorded, modeled lessons that cover skills missed during synchronous instruction.
- Using division-approved instructional resources – such as GoMath! or Khan Academy video tutorials – that align to the standard and lesson taught during synchronous instruction.
- Providing small-group, makeup learning opportunities to support missed synchronous learning at appropriately scheduled times.
