Health Update
Thank you all for helping our school and staff stay healthy. I have been watching the absent list closely and I have to say, we are doing pretty good, even though I caught something last week. Thank you also to the cleaning staff who have been actively cleaning rooms, door knobs and locker handles. Also, thank you to the students for using their chicken wings when coughing or sneezing.
As the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) shares more information about COVID-19, or the coronavirus, we want you to know that we are regularly in contact with the Washington/Ozaukee County Health Department. Our school health services staff work alongside school administrators to plan and respond to emerging communicable disease concerns following the guidance of the public health department and CDC recommendations.
A continued theme from public health officials is that it is currently flu and respiratory disease season and getting vaccinated for influenza, taking everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs, and taking flu antivirals if prescribed is recommended. CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water
- Help your students to wash their hands well
- Do not drop off your sick child at school
- Stay home when you're sick
- Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing
- Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms
We would also like to provide you access to the additional information below.

The COVID-19 situation is constantly evolving and changing. We understand there is uncertainty involved in this situation. We plan to keep you informed as needed. We encourage you to contact the local public health department if you have further questions. Thank you all for making Erin School a great place to learn.

Parenting the Digital Generation
This free presentation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th-6.30 pm at Erin School in the library.
Children of the 21st century are growing up in a digital age where they're introduced to new forms of technology on a regular basis. Although these new tools can bring many benefits to the world's youngest generation, they can also alter the way children learn to relate and connect with people, especially when forced to interact with others face-to-face and not through a screen.
Mike McGowan will talk about how technology has shaped the way students handle peer mediation and how adults can stay connected with the kids in their lives without the use of technology.
