Course Updates

AP Calculus AB with Mrs. Atkins

September 2, 2013

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

All grades in AP Calculus AB with Mrs. Atkins at Georgia Virtual School have been updated as of 9:00 am on September 2, 2013. If you submitted an assignment after that time, it may not be graded yet. Students, please check your grades by logging into your course and clicking on Assessments and then Grades. Parents/Guardians, please check your student's grades by logging into your parent account. For more information about the parent account, please refer to the Welcome to AP Calculus AB email or the GAVS helpdesk. If you have any trouble viewing grades or have any questions about grades, please contact me!

Missing/Late Work

For students in the 18- and 16-Week Schedule Groups, any assignments that were not completed by the bi-weekly due date of August 30 have been given a score of 0. Please complete any missing assignments as soon as possible for partial credit. Work turned in after the deadline on the course schedule will be accepted within 5 school days with a late penalty assessed. The late penalty begins on Saturday and is deducted at a rate of 10% of the assignment value per school day. Since Monday is a holiday this week, work submitted on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday is considered 1 day late.

Schedule Group Changes

Students/Parents/Guardians can request one schedule group change per semester. If you have several zeros and think submitting work on time according to your current schedule will be a problem, you may want to consider requesting placement in the 14-Week Schedule Group at this time. In accordance with GAVS policy, only one schedule group change can be made per semester.

Viewing Feedback on Quizzes/Tests

Students, please make sure that you view the feedback for every graded quiz and test and read the feedback for every problem that you missed. To see how to view feedback, please watch the video at the following link:

Please make sure that you click on the "View Feedback" link under each question that you missed.

Are You Struggling With Certain Homework Problems?

Don't forget that the Discussion Forums are a great resource! Each module has its own "Help" forum. If you have questions about a certain problem, please remember to check the help forum. I may have already posted a hint to your problem. If not, post your question and one of your classmates or I will help you!

Textbook Troubles?

If you are having trouble loading the textbook that is contained on the CDs that you received, you may use the web-based version at the following link:

It is the same as the full version that you have on your CDs. If you have any issues, please let me know. You will begin using your textbook in the Limits Module.

Don't forget to show your work!

Students, please remember that you should show your work on everything that you submit for this class, including assignments, quizzes, tests, and discussions. The most straightforward way to show your work on quizzes and tests is to type it directly into the textboxes provided on the quizzes and tests. If you would rather do your work on notebook paper, scan it, and submit it to a dropbox, that will be fine, as well. If you choose this option, make sure that you at least type your answers in the textboxes within the quiz/test. Your work must be submitted to the dropbox immediately after you submit your quiz/test.

If you have any questions, please let me know!
