Parking Lot Reminders and Information
Each morning and afternoon your continued cooperation and alertness in our parking lots helps to keep students safe. We appreciate your efforts in helping us maintain a safe environment for children. Therefore, we wanted to take a moment and remind you of our Parking Lot Guidelines. We have also included a map (see below) that we hope will assist in understanding traffic flow, pedestrian movement, and parking.
NSE Parking Lot Guidelines:
1. Constantly watch for children!
2. Drive slow and be patient!
IMPORTANT: If you enter via the service drive to park or use the pickup/drop off loop, the traffic on the service drive flows in 2 directions (2 lanes only) as shown by the red and blue arrows on the map. One lane should enter from Maybee Rd and one lane should exit.
DO NOT pass cars on the service drive/attempt to create another lane. We are asking for your full cooperation in adhering to the correct pattern of traffic flow.
If you are trying to park and not use the drop off/pick up loop, we suggest you enter via Pine Knob Lane.
3. Pull as far forward as possible in the parent load/unload loop.
4. Remember to also drive slow in the neighborhood as we have many students that walk to and from school.
5. Heed our Crossing Guards' directions.
6. Absolutely NO student drop-offs in the Bus Loop.
7. Walk with your child AND USE the crossing area onto the sidewalk.
Do not allow your child to walk through the parking lot without an adult escorting him/her and PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS THROUGH THE DROP OFF LOOP!
8. If you arrive late (8:25 a.m.) you must come into the school to sign in your child.
Again, thank you for your attention to student safety. We appreciate your cooperation and support!
Winter Gear
As a reminder with colder temperatures, it is very important that students are dressed appropriately while waiting at the bus stop and for recess. On days when the temperature reaches 0 degrees (windchill temperatures are used) or below, students will stay inside for recess. This is also true if there is heavy (soaking) precipitation (rain, snow, etc.)
Please plan to have your child prepared with a pair of winter boots, snow pants, winter coat, gloves, and a hat. If you need assistance with these items, please let your child’s teacher know. We want all of our students to be dressed appropriately warm for the winter weather.
Learning Feedback Document
The end of our first semester on January 19th signals an opportunity to celebrate your child's learning.
On Wednesday, January 24th, your child will bring home his/her Learning Feedback Document (LFD). Along with this, you will receive information about LFD and the Gradebook/Parent Vue. Not only will you receive a printed copy of the LFD sent home with your child, you can also view the LFD online via Parent Vue.
If you have questions about the LFD, please be sure to contact your child's teacher.
Kindergarten Information Night and Orientation Dates
In the Fall of 2018, two Kindergarten options will be offered:
- Full Day Kindergarten at every elementary school.
- Young 5's Kindergarten (available for students that turn 5 between June 1st-December 1st). This is a full-day program that we plan to offer at every elementary school provided enough students enroll at each building. Students that attend Young 5's will attend Kindergarten the following year at their home school.
To learn more about these options, as well as information about enrollment, we encourage our future Kindergarten parents to attend Kindergarten Information Night on Tuesday, February 6th starting at 7:00 p.m. This evening event is held at Clarkston Junior High School located at 6595 Waldon Road.
Kindergarten Orientation Dates
