International Baccalaureate Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."

Adrian Public Schools is Internationally Minded!

Did you know that we have 34 International Students at Adrian High School? They are from 17 different countries! They have traveled from all corners of the world to participate in an educational and cultural exchange. Their unique perspective and experience brings a rich heritage of International Mindedness to our school and community. If you are interested in housing an international student next year, please contact Mr. Brad Sharp, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Coordinator and International Programming and Partnership Coordinator @ bsharp@adrian.k12.mi.us or 517-266-4570.

You asked?

At our September PYP Parent Night, this great wondering was posted, "I wonder if all staff members are trained in PYP, not only the classroom teachers?"

  • All classroom teachers attend 15 hours of professional development at a International Baccalaureate training. The IB PYP Coordinator, the Principal and Specialists (Gym, Art, Music, Language Acquisition, and Literacy Support) are also included in the requirement for this training. As teachers return from their training, they come back and share during professional development time their new information. This information is then embedded into our written curriculum and then taught to the students.
