Welcome Back!

The 2020-2021 school year is off to a fantastic, albeit different and confusing, start! It has been such fun welcoming a promising new class of freshmen into our classrooms (both virtually and in-person), and we love watching our returning members jump right back in, more ready than ever to make this a great year. Our Mojo Choir Council officers have worked hard to prepare for this to be an unforgettable year full of joy and excitement.

The Mojo Choir Newsletter is published to keep students and parents updated on events for the week, reminders about upcoming deadlines, and gives families a window into our daily classroom activities. The newsletter will be sent through email and Remind, and will also be posted on the Permian Choir Facebook page and our website (www.permianchoir.com).

REMINDER: All students are required to be physically or virtually present during their class time EVERY DAY. This expectation comes from ECISD.

Remind

We use the Remind app to communicate with parents and students. If you are not receiving our Remind messages, you are likely missing out on important updates and information related to your choir class.

In order to join, text the class code for your class to 81010.

TMEA Audition Process for 2020-2021

Each year, the Texas Music Educators Association sponsors a series of auditions which culminates in the selection to the Texas All-State Choir. The directors encourage all choir students to consider making the TMEA process part of their choral education each year. The vocal experience gained, and the exposure to the challenging audition repertoire, result in tremendous musical growth in the students who choose to participate in this process. The rigorous nature of these auditions require commitment to practice at home, and also the responsibility to come to rehearsals at school. Private voice lessons are highly encouraged for all participants, but they are not mandatory.

This year, TMEA has moved to virtual auditions for the duration of the Texas All-State Choir process. The first round of auditions will be in the middle of October, the second in November, and the final round in early January.
