What's been going on...

Message from CEO, Roy Cherry

I always say how busy it's been here at the Epilepsy Center and these past few months have been the true definition of that word. Opening a new location, construction everywhere in our main office and multiple events have kept us on our toes. It's heartwarming to see the people whose lives we touch and those who support them.

We certainly won’t be resting in 2020 either. While everyone is glad all the projects from 2019 are complete, preparations have begun for our new endeavors in 2020. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting new projects this coming year.

So read on for what the Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio is doing to achieve the mission to improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy and those with developmental disabilities. Please 'like' and 'follow' our Facebook page for regular messages about upcoming events, hiring opportunities, topical news items and chances to be part of our family.

Upcoming Events

Facebook group for parents (any age) of children (any age) who have epilepsy

If you are a parent of a child with epilepsy, please consider joining our group as a resource for information, support and guidance. Whether your child is young or an adult, this group is for you. Many of the parents in this group have faced what you are facing. Some are just as new to this issue as you. All need understanding and a place to get the support that a physician's office many not be equipped to provide.

Regardless of how long your child has had epilepsy, things do change and you may find that sharing your journey is a comfort to someone else. There is no obligation and the group is private and monitored. You can leave at any time. We are also going to attempt a conference call option so that members who can't make it to the location can still attend from home, work, their car (not while driving!) or anywhere they can access cell service or the internet. Please stay tuned for more information.

To join our group, look for the photo (shown in the middle below) when searching Parents of Children with Epilepsy. There is a brief qualifying questionnaire to make sure we aren't scammed. Looking forward to having you on the team!

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarship 2020

We are so excited to share that, in conjunction with our Foundation, we offered our scholarship again. This opportunity was for one student, at large, to get up to $2,500 towards their education. This is an annual offering and does require a rigorous application process. Last year's recipient, Stephanie Ravas, was most deservedly chosen.

The award of the scholarship will be announced by mid summer so watch our Facebook and newsletter for the exciting results!

We have a SECOND location!

Toledo Adult Day Services (ADS)

The Epilepsy Center opened it's first satellite Adult Day Services location in Toledo. Just off Alexis Rd., this new center is just the spot for about 25 of our clients. The focus for this location is job skills training like using a cash register, taking orders and learning some household tasks. We'll be having a grand opening celebration in the near future so please stay tuned here and on our Facebook page.

All the happenings...

Things have been busy here at the Epilepsy Center. Take a look at how our construction finished up, the 2019 PGT, our Carpe Diem Epilepsy WALK/RUN, the annual holiday party and our snazzy new cafe lobby. You definitely don't want to miss what's in store for 2020!
