Principal's Note
Families:
Thank you for supporting your learner with another great week! Often times, our learner's grown-ups ask me how they can help at home. Here are some tips for you if you are wondering the same!
- If you have concerns for your individual child (academic, social, or emotional) be sure we know. You can reach out to the teacher on ClassDojo if you are in the face-to-face environment by sending a private message. If your learner is engaging virtually, send a WebEx message tor email o the teacher. The better the partnership between the learner's grown-ups and our teaching staff the better! YOU know your child best and that can only help support his/her teacher in learning.
- Read. Read books, listen to books, look at pictures in books, listen to your child read, read signs around you, magazines, cereal boxes - all kinds of reading! One of the great benefits of reading to your learner is the language development that occurs with reading aloud. Language and listening skills prepare children to understand the written word. (Even after kids learn to read by themselves, there are still benefits to reading aloud together!)
- Spend time together. Play. Go on a walk. Prepare a meal. Talk. Family time is JUST AS IMPORTANT as academic time. Ask about your learner's day with questions that can't be answered with "yes" "no" "I don't know" or "nothing". My favorite question (right now) is "who did you help today?" More examples of questions to ask after school can be found below!
We are here to be your partner in eduction and we are honored to work with YOU and your children everyday!

New COVID Procedure for recess - starting Monday
For the first three weeks, we have allowed a grade level to play together at recess. We have two classrooms per grade level.
Starting Monday, we will have just the individual classroom playing together at recess, not mixing the two grade level classes. The playground will be in zones to keep less students exposed to each other, while still allowing them to play outside with the students that are in their specific classroom. Example: We used to allow both 1st grade classes to play outside together. Now, each 1st grade class will have their own zone for recess play.

Monthly Characteristic!
Respect can be many different things. Some examples:
- respectful words to others
- respect to ourselves
- respect to our family members
- respect when someone needs space
- respect to our friends
- respect to property
The picture above shows a book on the easel. We will be reading this book in all classrooms sometime this month. It's called, "We're All Wonders". This story celebrates differences. We are all different and it is our job to respect each and every difference we see and also those differences that we can't see! I encourage you to continue this discussion at home as well!
