What's New in C2?
April 11-15
Learning in C2
Literacy: Happy Poetry Month! To celebrate, learners are reading and writing poems. Poets use language to help readers develop a mental image, and learners are practicing creating visualizations from poems. We are also learning about different tools authors use to help their works come alive for readers (alliteration, onomatopoeia, simile, etc.). Learners will soon be writing and publishing their own poetry!
Math: We are learning about measurement, time, and money. Additionally (pun intended), we encourage learners to continue practicing basic addition and subtraction facts on a daily basis. Your child's ability to instantly recall of basic facts will support him or her as more complex operations are encountered in years to come.
Project Work Conversation Starters: Use the following questions to learn more about your child's project work.
- What is the focus of your project?
- Why is your project important?
- What have you accomplished this week during project time?
- What has gone well this week during project time?
- What has not gone well this week during project time, and what are your ideas for improving it?

C2 Last Week Luau
It's hard to believe that the end of the school year is swiftly approaching! Let's celebrate our year together with a luau and picnic on Monday, May 23. Keep reading to find out how you can help.
For the luau, we will have six stations, and each class will rotate through each station:
- Musical Beach Towels
- Beach Float Relay
- Limbo
- Coconut Over-Under Relay
- Beach Ball Parachute
- Snack
If you can help by sending an item for these stations, please sign up using the link below. If the item is not consumable, write your name on it, and we will see that it is returned to you after our celebration.
We need a few parent volunteers to run the stations. These parents will set up a station at 9:00 and run it from 9:30 to 11:00 as each class rotates through. If you can help with this, please sign up using the link below. All the materials for the station will be provided. A Lead Learner will help you with the set-up and explain how to run the station. All you have to do is show up!
At 11:00, the entire community will participate in a fun relay, and we ask a parent volunteer from each class to help with this. If you are able to help with this, please sign up using the link below. Your Lead Learner will explain how you will help at the beginning of the relay at 11:00. (The details of the relay will remain a secret until that time. Volunteers' feet may get wet.)
The picnic will last from 11:30 to 12:15, and we invite all parents to attend! A form will come home soon for you to indicate whether your child will purchase a lunch from school or bring his or her lunch from home.
