Online Learning for all THS Students January 19-January 22
The duration of this transition is contingent upon campus staffing and several other internal and external environmental factors that are being monitored daily. It is our intention to return to face-to-face instruction for students currently designated for face-to-face learning for Term 3 once we are able to do so. A status update will be provided at the end of next week.
Bell Schedules
All students and staff will continue to operate on the current bell schedule assigned to them for Term 3. T3 online students will continue with the virtual bell schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. During the shift to online learning, T3 face-to-face students will log in to Microsoft Teams from home and follow their current schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Teachers will send T3 face-to-face students Microsoft Teams invites before classes begin on Tuesday morning.
Child Nutrition Information
FBISD Child Nutrition will continue the Grab and Go meal service as planned with Monday's meal service moved to Tuesday due to MLK Day. On Tuesday morning, families can pick up breakfast, lunch and dinner to provide meals for Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday morning, families can pick up meals for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Grab and Go meal service will regular Monday and Thursday pick-ups on Monday, January 25.
Student Programing Information
Since this shift to online learning was driven more so by the need to ensure business continuity instead of COVID-19 mitigation, at this time, U.I.L. and some student academic programs may continue face-to-face operations. As a reminder, it is very important for all students currently in isolation or quarantine to remain home and not report for any in-person learning or activities. Agriculture students and members of Future Farmers of America (FFA) will be allowed to continue in-person learning and work at the agriculture center. Also, students may still attend the James Reese Career and Technical Center for face-to-face learning.
PSAT Information
At this time, ninth grade students scheduled to take the PSAT on Wednesday, January 20, will proceed as planned, and the District will coordinate with campus administration to ensure that testing is proctored and monitored. Students registered to take the PSAT who normally receive district transportation will have access to transportation the day of the test, and regular breakfast and lunch meal service will be provided to students participating in PSAT testing. Parents of students scheduled to take the PSAT can expect to receive additional communication by Tuesday afternoon with details about the day of the test.
Thank you for your flexibility and support throughout this pandemic. I understand that this shift in academic delivery will once again require our community to adapt. We must remain disciplined and vigilant in our approach to this pandemic as we do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses and in our surrounding communities. Our passionate and dedicated faculty and staff will continue to deliver high-quality instruction as we shift to online learning, our Districtโs mission has continued because of their hard work and with the strong support of our community.
Moving forward, in order to support the Districtโs continued efforts to mitigate the spread of illness in our community, students and staff must report symptoms, exposures and positive results immediately in the daily wellness screening. Please continue to take all necessary precautions and follow the established protocols โ wear a face covering, socially distance yourself, avoid large gatherings, wash your hands and use hand sanitizer. It is also important that you monitor for symptoms, stay home and see a physician if you exhibit symptoms of COVID-19.
As a reminder, FBISD practices comprehensive health and safety protocols to help prevent the spread of illness. We are urging our staff and families to continue to do their part by adhering to these protocols. It is critical for students and staff to remain home if they are feeling ill, showing symptoms, or have been exposed to someone positive for COVID-19.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this temporary shift to online learning.
